Race 1
#7 Bread Crumbs
#6 Maritime Magic
#8 I Have Hope
#2 Jordan’s Way
#7 BREAD CRUMBS has been in flat in two sprints
against tougher this season. His best race to date came
in his only try around two turns over this surface. #6
MARITIME MAGIC plunges in for $7,500 for his first try
over the Tapeta. In his season opener against optional
$40,000 company he broke slowly and failed to threaten
after racing three-wide; he may take some beating on the
class drop. #8 I HAVE HOPE had a wide journey on turf
in his local opener, finishing fifth in a strung-out field. If he
handles the synthetic he should be competitive with this
group. #2 JORDAN’S WAY had a good effort against
$4,500 foes around two turns on the Fort Erie turf two
starts ago, then ran an okay fifth sprinting locally. With a
good trip she could be along for a share at a big price.
Race 2
#1 Carolina Grace
#5 Finest Jewel
#6 Benevida
#4 Stormy Vision
#1 CAROLINA GRACE has had two decent starts
sprinting on the main track to begin her season. She a
better horse both routing and turfing and could get a very
good trip from the rail post. #5 FINEST JEWEL was part
of a bizarre cat-and-mouse pace battle in her local debut
on July 11, flattening out in the stretch. She drops in
value here but may take some pressure from any of the
three foes to her outside. #6 BENEVIDA was also part of
the pace in that July 11 race. Win-shy mare certainly
warrants a look but will need a better trip. #4 STORMY
VISION was a good second in a soft group of non-threes
in her first start after being claimed back by the William
Armata back. She looks competitive once again.
Race 3
#6 My Cantata
#1 Afleet Connection
#5 Dolly Stormy
#8 Orbiting the Sky
#6 MY CANTATA had a much improved effort in her
second start of the campaign, running second behind
Bear Kitty. 10 time winner should be close to the pace
and looks logical. #1 AFLEET CONNECTION was an
even fifth when returning on 11 days rest in the same July
9 race My Cantata exits. If the early pace is contested
she could be a rallying threat. #5 DOLLY STORMY runs
her best when she gets covered up behind horses,
something she was unable to do in her season opener on
the inner turf. She has a lot of back class and would not
come as a surprise with the right trip. #8 ORBITING THE
SKY pulled off an upset when winning a $7,500 non-three
in her local debut. Three year old filly puts her undefeated
record on the line in her first start outside of conditioned
company but should be close to the pace and has
confidence on her side.
Race 4
#7 Big Executive - Best Bet
#2 Last Sensation
#4 Better Boogie
#10 Strike a Beat
#7 BIG EXECUTIVE has been part of two clustered
paces and given way to be third both times. The rail is in
Lane 4 for his turf debut; if he is quick enough to clear to
the lead and is able to handle the grass he could be very
tough to beat. #2 LAST SENSATION had a positive debut
over the turf, then was close to a clustered pace and
evened out over the main track second time out. Although
beaten 15 lengths in that spot he was beaten only three
for the show spot and may fly under the radar here. #4
BETTER BOOGIE rallied to be a good second behind a
lone-speed winner in his most recent try on June 28. He
has hit the board in four straight attempts. #10 STRIKE A
BEAT was a well-beaten third in a maiden special weight
going 1m1/16 on June 20. He drops in for $40,000 and
shortens up to a sprint; his closing style and wide post
could work against him with the rail out in Lane 4.
Race 5
#3 Priceless Will
#8 Speedy Moonlite
#7 Dealmaker
#5 Mr Will
#3 PRICELESS WILL was well clear of the rest when
finishing a non-threatening second behind Red Hierarchy
on July 12. He should have plenty of pace to close into
for his second start of the campaign. #8 SPEEDY
MOONLITE was a very good second in his debut against
maiden special weight company. He was a late scratch
when entered again at that level on July 19 and now gets
to face optional $40,000 foes. #7 DEALMAKER made the
lead but could not hold off the heavily favoured Bend in
the River on July 19. That was a major wake-up effort
after two disappointing tries last year; we’ll see if he
continues to move in the right direction. #5 MR WILL was
a game second when debuting for $25,000 on July 2. He
could earn a share on the class rise.
Race 6
#1 Downy Boy
#5 Conquistador
#4 Now We Are Nine
#3 Whiskey Victor
#1 DOWNY BOY was a non-threat but passed a few foes
when facing first level allowance company in his season
opener over the main track. He ran well in all three of his
turf tries last year and should appreciate the drop in
class. #5 CONQUISTADOR made the lead and was able
to score an easy win over the Tapeta on July 5. There is
some other speed in here but if he is able to outsprint
them to the lead he may prove too tough to run down. #4
NOW WE ARE NINE has had two positive races at big
odds since going off of Lasix. He was scratched from a
starter optional claiming race on July 26 but should fare
better against these non-threes anyways. #3 WHISKEY
VICTOR came up empty as a narrow favourite when
facing optional $40,000 foes around two turns on the
inner turf. He drops in value after nearly seven weeks off;
his only try around one turn was his debut at Belmont.
Race 7
#1 Lion’s Goldenheart
#2 Self Inflicted
#4 Matinee
#8 Hard n’Sweet
#1 LION’S GOLDENHEART has had two even efforts
against first level allowance company to kick off the year.
He had a good start over this course last year; although
he broke his maiden (by DQ) over the Tapeta I think he is
a better turf course and has not hooked the toughest
group here. #2 SELF INFLICTED was a good third over
the E. P. Taylor course in his season opener then
finished midpack on the main track three weeks later. He
should be able to work out a good trip here. #4 MATINEE
was a clear second best in his season opener over this
course but was awarded the win via disqualification. If he
steps forward in his second start off of the layoff he could
contend. #8 HARD N’SWEET ran second over the
Tampa turf in his career debut then came back to romp
against $16,000 three year olds in an off-turf event. His
local debut is his first start outside of age-restricted
company; he may show some speed from the outside.
Race 8
#1 Classy Mistress
#2 Queen’s Speed
#10 Hello Friends
#9 Rolling Sloan
#5 Glamourous Girl
#1 CLASSY MISTRESS was slammed at the break, fell
well back from the pack but came running in the stretch
when debuting on June 27. Blinkers are added; with a
clean start and better position she could be a factor. #2
QUEEN’S SPEED has been in good form from the start
of the season. She has had tough posts in her last two
starts; she may be tough with a much better draw today.
#10 HELLO FRIENDS was a good second behind a well-
meant second time starter in her turf debut on June 27.
She can show a little bit of speed which could help her
find position from a tough post. #9 ROLLING SLOAN has
had two decent efforts over the synthetic to behind her
career. She tries turf and has potential to improve as she
gains experience. #5 GLAMOUROUS GIRL had to
steady leaving the chute to avoid an incident in her most
recent try on July 12 and never really got into the race.
