GWC Community Services Supervisors – Julia and Ellie
We love it, we want it and to improve our services,
we believe your input helps.
If there is something about our centre, or if you have
a great afternoon tea idea or would like to see
something changed or added to the program…don’t hesitate to tell us or email us!
Suggestions are always welcome and appreciated.
PLEASE LET US KNOW!
Please contact us if your child will not be requiring
before/after school care due to illness or change of
plans.
A quick text can save 10 vital minutes for staff. Due
to time restraints in getting all children picked up in
a timely manner we are unable to wait or going
looking around the school for your child who may be
at home sick.
It is our duty of care to check for all missing children,
however we need to be informed. Thank you.
MEDICAL INFO. REQUIREMENT
If your child has an allergy or condition, then it is
your responsibility to obtain a letter from your
doctor that outlines the diagnosis, symptoms and
must contain ways in which we can effectively assist
your child in managing their condition/allergy.
Afternoon tea has a high consideration for allergies
but if your child cannot eat the food, is a fussy eater
or you don’t want them eating it, then you are also
welcome to pack extra food for your child. Our
menu is displayed on parent board.
All self-medicating children must sign appropriate
form, all anaphylaxis, severe allergies and asthma
must also have a written plan with a current photo.
Please see staff if requiring assistance.
You will be contacted by staff should the medication
you have provided approaches its use by date, and
we will request new medication is purchased and
brought to the centre.
NEW PROCESS FOR PAYING FEES
COMING SOON
In order to simplify our Account Payment process,
we will be partnering with Ezidebit to introduce
Direct Debit from Credit Card or Bank Accounts.
Payment by Direct Debit offers you the convenience
of ensuring that your Account is paid on time,
without the hassle of having to manually process the
payment yourself.
This service is completely flexible and can be set up
to suit each parent’s pay cycle with their employment benefits. Payments can also be placed
on hold, cancelled or altered simply by phoning the
centre if your circumstances change.
We are in the process of getting this started and will
keep you informed of its progress.

ROBOT RIOT DAY was a fantastic day ! Michael taught us how robots really work! We played soccer games
and wrestling games with remote robots – it was so cool! In the afternoon we put our creative hats on and in
groups designed our very own robots. We presented them to the group and explained what the robot’s purpose
was and how to use them

TERM 3
PASSPORT TO THE WORLD
In terms 2 and 3, Kingsford After School Care students have been studying different countries such as India and
Germany. We have been doing many different activities and craft to do with these countries. We have made
passports and each week, we collect a stamp from each country we visit. Our educator Julia has also been
cooking traditional food every week and it has been
delicious! We have learnt so much about the countries.
The educators have been showing us pictures, word
searches and facts about each country and all children
have enjoyed it. We have been doing this program for
around 4 months now and we have done 13 countries so
far. Each week we display the flag of the country we are
visiting on our display wall.
By Sia Manos and Nicholas Kalligiannis,
Year 6 St Spyridon College.
FATHERS DAY
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads at our service. We hope you
had a lovely day with the family and you enjoyed the beautifully
designed mugs your children created at after school care.
RIO 2016 OLYMPICS
During the Rio Olympics we kept track of the top
10 performing countries and celebrated our
Australian Olympians who received medals. We
have a display in our room on our notice board.
The Olympics is an amazing time where the world
unites with the best athletes in the world
representing their motherland and it was great to
see children enjoying keeping track of our
Olympians and Australia’s progress.

TERM THREE
Each week this term we have been learning and working on many different topics. Our older students in room
three have also been taking turns at being our local news reporters. They have been observing, taking photos
and writing up weekly reports. Here are some of our favourites.
SCIENCE WEEK
Science week was fantastic! Every day was spend learning cool things and doing lots of fun science experiments,
where we learned about colour changes, shadow tracing, water travelling, and some good old chemistry.
Our week got even more exciting and messy when we made our own play dough to use in our vinegar volcano
experiment.

BOOK WEEK
Book week was a great week for all. Room 1 read Jack and the beanstalk, recreating the beanstalk in our main
room where you will see our kindergarten kids climbing themselves.
Room 2 split into groups to create their very own stories that we have turned into books. Here is a sneak peak
below but please take a moment to read them on our display table.

Room 3 created a team of news reporters that wrote up an article of the week that was.

FATHER’S DAY
The lead up to Father’s Day was a very busy week for us with the children creating lots of fabulous gifts for their fathers and grandfathers. On behalf of all of us at GWC we hope you all had a very happy father’s day!

Father`s Day Poem All those times you spent money on me,
the toys, the lunch, dinner and breakie.
All those things you served me,
were all for free.
You help me with homework when I`m stuck.
You are my big bro.
You`re the best dad ever, oh aren`t I in luck!
When I`m not well and feeling blue
And mum the doctor is at work,
You become the doctor,
I love you.
Thanks dad for all the things you have done.
From now on I will be the best child ever.
So you`ll have the best father`s day with a lot of fun!
