1. GUIDE TO REASON
2. How to open ReasonClick on applicationsOpen the music
tabClick on the propeller Head Reason tabThen click run
muti-licence otherwiseyour work will not be saved
3. How to use a MixerThe pan is setting for left orright in the
channel soundThe is generally your starting point as your need
amixer to control the levels of the your devices. Themixer has
fourteen stereo channels the first fourteensliders from left to
right and a master slider with themixer you can also pan adjust
treble and bass and addeffects.EQ boostand cutsfrequenciesVolume
controlof the channel
4. Volume Master volumeEQ allows you to boost and cut certain
frequencies. Humans can hearbetween 30hz and 18,000khz An equalizer
will break that up into sectionsThe most basic will just be tone
control with a bass boost at one end andtreble boost at other. Next
most simple is separate control for bass andtreble. Then someone
thought of adding minds control to adjust the decentamps theses
days will have at least a five band equalizer the more bandsthe
more fine control you have over
5. HOW TO GET TO THE DRUMS
6. HOW TO USE REDRUMSRedrum is ten channel drum machine which
uses a patternsequencer to create drum parts. The number of steps
representsemiquavers(16th notes)and can be adjusted down from 16
one barof 4/4-16 semiquavers to for exmaple4 12 one bar3/4
-12semiquavers).Each channel allows you to control the individual
patchof the kit for example pan bass treble As with the Dr REX loop
playerthe patches are also mapped to your keyboard again starting
at c1channel none and rising e.g.C#1 (channel 2)
7. HOW TO CREATE A SAMPLERThe NN-XT is a highly advanced
sampler with animpressive list of features and functions to it.
Where theNN-19 is a "fast-track" sampler, this machine is for
yourmore demanding sampling tasks. The NN-XT is burstingwith
detailed programming options, but comes with anintuitive user
interface, making it the perfect tool for bothsound design and
life-like instrument emulation. Just loadup one of the included
orchestral library patches, and you'llknow what we're talking
about.Go on create and theninstruments and then on NN-XTadvanced
sampler
8. How to use samplerClickThe NXT allows you to load and play
samples as with the NN-19 The additional featureis that it allows
you to layer one sample over another which is done by mapping
thesamples across the keyboard. The NXT-XT comes with a range of
instrumental samples and also some very highquality sound effects
it is also very useful for playing WAV samples which can
includevocals recorded by pupils or live instrumental riffs.
9. How to import drumsRight click and thengo on copy
pattern
10. How to looploopLeft and right marker
11. Subtractor is an analog type polyphonic synthesizer based
on subtractive synthesis, themethod used in classic, analog
synthesizers. A unique feature of the SubtractorSynthesizer is the
oscillator phase offset. By using this feature you can create
complexwaveforms by subtracting or multiplying a waveform with a
phase offset copy of it self.
12. How to add panningEach channel of Reason's mixer has a
single pan pot, which places mono signals in the stereo field. As
withmixing in any environment, remember to make gooduse of
positioning to spread things out and add spaceto your mix. Common
wisdom suggests that loud andlow-frequency parts stay central, to
share the burdenbetween your speakers and keep a solid foundation
tothe mix.
13. How to balance tracks(change the volume)Turn up and
tobalance tracks
14. How to add reverbReverb: Reverberation or reverb effects
areomnipresent, both in the real world and inmusic production.
Judicious use of reverb canmake the difference between a
professionalrecording and something that sounds like itwas recorded
in a bedroom, adding depth andfullness to the sound.
15. Step time1. Click in notes using the mouse2. Use the
Computer numeric keypad and type theletter keys on the keyboard3.
Use a MIDI Keyboard (or MIDI Controller) andenter the notes and
rests one at a time.
