We are firmly rooted to the belief that learning can only take place when youngsters are happy, safe and curious and it is our job as teachers to ignite that learning. Designing learning that is purposeful and reflects the modern world, and that offers our young people the best chance of examination success is fundamental to our approach. We will always challenge students’ thinking and practice, allowing them to grow and develop through reflection. Growing our future together It is my greatest pleasure to welcome you to The British School of Málaga, where our students feel valued and listened to as well as part of a learning community that supports them in achieving their dreams and ambitions. A British Education We offer a British education in a bicultural environment that is complemented with Spanish studies. Our curriculum therefore creates more opportunities for our students to learn, giving them more options when they leave. We are proud of how we develop a personalised experience of learning for every young person and not just a one fit all approach. Because of our personalised approach youngsters leave our school more rounded from the rich experiences they have encountered, confident and motivated in the pathway they are travelling and as a result happy, aspirational, independent and successful. Core ValuesWe have 8 core values that are central to becoming a happy and successful life long learner, they are:

Preparing Students for Exams & BeyondOur students study the British curriculum, preparing for GCSE and A Level qualifi cations which will open doors to Universities around the world.

Students complement their studies with Spanish Language, Social Sciences and Humanities from the Spanish curriculumwhich enables them to obtain the necessary qualifi cations for access to Spanish universities.

However, we do not just get students to pass exams, instead we prepare them for life. We design opportunities that allow students to develop these values and encourage our students to work with other year groups and organisations; collaborating together as part of a learning community.

Learner-centred Approach to Education We place signifi cant value on developing opportunities that o er a range of cultural, social and creative experiences for youngsters to discover and develop new interests. Through such opportunities we develop learners’ understanding that whoever we are and whatever background we come from we are all citizens of the future who can learn from one another’s skills and experiences. Our philosophy that underlies how we grow and develop is based upon respect for ourselves and others and for our learning environment.

We pride ourselves on being positive and enthusiastic role models for all our young people to be enthused by. Our learner-centred approach to education, our passion for all young people to be ambitious and successful and our dedication allows youngsters to feel valued, respected and supported. Building relationships with our young people, our families and sta are important to everything we do; we always aim to listen, learn and refl ect together.

We are very proud of our school and look forward to welcoming you in the near future where you will see for yourself what a unique learning experience we o er.

Erik S. (Year 11 Student)While The British School of Málaga has very competent teachers and a variety of learning styles, what’s made it particularly valuable to me is the mentoring programme that has helped me get more organized and ready for my A Levels, as well as the chance to improve my teamwork and communication through leadership roles, and a seat in the EYP sessions which has developed my independence and resilience.

The British School of Málaga has let me discover what for me is an amazing combination: individual freedom, fl exible systems, and solid guidance, all in the right magic mix. I cherish this experience very much.

Susana C.My children started at the school in Year 10 and Year 9 having come from the Spanish system. It has been a challenge for them but thanks to amazing work from the team of professionals who work here and thanks to their classmates, they have adapted perfectly.

A great bonus of the school for us is the personalised attention for each student and especially how each student’s personal qualities are developed. The methodology of teaching through investigation, experiments, perseverance and collaboration truly prepares them for the world that they will fi nd in the future. It is fantastic for their development that from Year 10 they are already able to choose and specialise in the subjects which attract them most for their university studies. Our children are happy in this school, and that is the most important thing.

Paul M.Our children are now in their 5th year at The British School of Málaga and I have to say that they are both thriving in the environment you provide. The teaching methods and ethos of the school have meant that they actually look forward to going and come home with smiles on their faces eager to tell the days events.

The current management team have continued to make enhancements where needed and are happy to listen to parents to ensure continued improvement.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the school.
