All of your references will now be in your ‘All References’ folder.

This is fine when you only have a few but can get confusing as your list gets longer.

3

Within EndNote, you can organise your references into groups, which will appear in the left hand menu, under ‘My Groups’.

So, how do you put the Chaffey reference into a group ?

Page 4: Grouping your references in EndNote

4

Left click the reference to highlight it. Right-clicking on the reference will bring up a menu. Move to ‘Add References To’ and then ‘Create Custom Group’.

5

You can now name your new group

You can see that the reference has appeared in the new group

6

You can then add more references to the group in the same way

(If you hold down the Ctrl key when clicking, you can select more than one reference)

7

As you add more groups, they will appear in both menus

8

You can also put references in more than one group

They’ll still have the same information and work in the same way

9

Don’t worry if you accidentally delete a group, all your references will remain in your ‘All References’ folder, even if you put all of them into different groups.
