Thanks to generous donors, the Stuttering Foundation has donated books and DVDs to li-braries across the country, including the Jefferson Public Library in Jefferson, Oregon. Stuttering Foundation books are directed to parents of children who stutter, adults who stutter, speech pathologists, pediatricians, family physicians, nurses, health care profession-als, hospitals, schools, clinics, day-care centers, and all those concerned with the problem of stuttering. The DVDs feature some of the world's leading therapists with children who stutter. Since the original publication, Foundation materials have reached millions of indi-viduals worldwide.
More than three million Americans stutter, yet stuttering remains misunderstood by most people," said Jane Fraser, president of The Stuttering Foundation. "Myths such as believing people who stutter are less intelligent or suffer from psychological problems still persist de-spite research refuting these erroneous beliefs." Sixteen books and DVDs produced by the 70-year-old nonprofit Stuttering Foundation are available free to any public library. The Foundation has provided free materials that are available to over 20,000 public libraries nationwide. A library that will shelve them can e-mail [email protected], or download a request form at http://www.stutteringhelp.org/libraries-information.
Jefferson Evangelical is having its annual Summer Yard Sale to raise funds to support compassion ministries. If
you have items to donate for the sale, bring them to the church any time between now and the end of June. Put your donation under the covered porch if no one is there. Thank you for your support and participation over the years! Our Summer Yard Sale has provided for local needs like backpacks for school children and helping individuals through Love INC. In addition, our Yard Sale has helped out nationally with disasters like Hurricane Katrina. Funds raised have also helped families internationally through partnerships with World Vision and Orphan Outreach.
