We invaded Britain in 43 A.D.,

and soon afterwards founded

the city of Londinium.

Page 8: Great Britain for Kids - Grigorian Naira

In the 60th year AD the city underwent

attack

Queen of britts Boudicca and part

London

it was set fire. My ancestors

restored the city for some years.

Londinium a little

time was exposed to attacks of Saxon

pirates.

Because of it were constructed a little

additional walls along the river.

Page 9: Great Britain for Kids - Grigorian Naira

Romans left Londinium, and the

city began to become populated

gradually Britons. We started

lodging there since the

beginning of the IV century.

In V century on the territory of

Britain tribes Angles, Saxons and

Utah began to move. Saxons

accepted Christianity, and in the

city St. Paul's Cathedral was

erected. Vikings started attacking,

but king Alfred the Great

managed restore the city.

William I (William the Conqueror) erected

the castle — the royal residence which

received the name Tower. At William the

Conqueror’s son started building (1176 —

1209) the well-known London Bridge.

London is the centre of trade and

government . We established many

palaces and parks. The river Thames

is very important, because Britain’’s

navy was expanded.

The Great Fire of London accidentally

started in Pudding Lane in September

of 1666. The fire lasted four days

and wiped out 80% of London.

Few people lost

their lives but, buildings were easily

destroyed. After the fire all new

buildings were made

of stone and brick.

Page 16: Great Britain for Kids - Grigorian Naira

Oh, our time is coming!

Let's go!

Page 17: Great Britain for Kids - Grigorian Naira

Here you can see the Tower of London. It

was a fortress, a royal palace and later a

prison. It is a museum now. There are a

lot of interesting collections in the Tower of

London. It’s also famous for its ravens.

The legend says that without them the

Tower will fall.

Page 18: Great Britain for Kids - Grigorian Naira

Now we are crossing Tower

Bridge over the river Thames.

Page 19: Great Britain for Kids - Grigorian Naira

Now we are at Buckingham Palace. It

is the London home of the Queen.

When the flag is flying on the top she

is at home. Look, they are changing

the Guard. It happens every day at

11.30 a.m.
