History of Gothic

One of the best known gothic novels is Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

Ghost Stories During the summer of 1816, Mary and Percy were visiting poet Lord Byron in Switzerland.

During a stormy night, Byron suggested a ghost story competition.

Mary went to bed thinking about the competition.
