Tao Te Ching, put your belongings in the middle of the room and let’s go outside to become in-tuned with nature.
TAO TE CHING
As we read from the Tao Te Ching, keep an eye out for these literary concepts: Maxims Parallelism Paradoxes
REVIEWThe Taoist philosophy includes the
concept of meditation. Meditate = to encourage
contemplation or reflection. Meditation can mean several things, but
often means intensely focusing on an idea to more deeply grasp its meaning.
TAO TE CHING1) Go to 3 of the Tao
meditation stations.2) I’ll instruct you when to be
silent.3) When silence has ensued,
you’ll read the maxim at that station at least 3 times (more if needed).
4) After reading it, you’ll be asked to meditate (think deeply) about the message’s meaning and how it connects to your life (5 min.).
5) Finally, you’ll be asked to write about what was revealed to you during your meditation (bring pen and paper).
TAO TE CHINGWrite about the maxim by
writing down and filling in the blanks below on a separate sheet of paper:
When focusing on passage # ____, I
thought about __________________
_______________________________.I realized I was being told
that I/we should

.
TAO TE CHINGNow, go to the meditation station
that you enjoyed most. You will have 5 minutes to discuss what you thought this meant to a partner. Then, summarize what he/she said about the maxim in 2-3 sentences. Turn in your Taoist meditation paper on the stool before leaving.
