Federal investigators are asking the public to help solve middle-of-the-night crim

left ruined fields of genetically engineered sugar beets in rural Jackson County.

The crop destruction took place over the course of two separate nights in early Juwhen an unknown individual or group destroyed about 6,500 sugar beet plants

genetically engineered to stand up to the herbicide Roundup on a pair of

Oregon Department of Agriculture Director Katy Coba issued a statement abou

sabotage.

To my knowledge, this is the first time someone has deliberately taken the cow

step of uprooting high value plants growing in our state. Regardless of how oneabout biotechnology, there is no justification for committing these crimes and i

the kind of behavior we expect to see in Oregon agriculture, Coba said.

Ok, lets try the KISS principle: GMO plants have been modi-

fied to be resistant to Roundup. Roundup has been found to

be poisonous in parts per trillion and it is found in excess of

that amount in all Roundup treated plants. Actual research

shows no benefits over non-GMO plants being grown conven-

tionally. Take a look at what Monsantos products have done to

Indian farmers for example, or their terminator genes trans-

ferring to non-modified plants. It wont take you much to find

out what all the commotion is about., if youre really looking

for it.

cient, and can sterilize a plant if the GMO pollinates it.

Besides, Monsanto is buying up all the small farms
