“A masterpiece that sparkles, like the finest champagne.” Berlin Morgenpost

“Beyond is rustic, earthy and joyous, enveloping its audience with its energy and playfulness.” Sydney Morning Herald

There is a line between human and animal, between madness and sanity, between logic and dream… we invite you to step over this line…and go Beyond.

Beyond is warm, surreal and unexpectedly moving. Blending dynamic circus acts like trapeze and Chinese pole with multiple rabbit heads, rubics cubes and blindfolds, set to a bewitching mix of show tunes, ballads and electronica, this creation delights and enchants.

Beyond is set on multiple stages within stages – small red-curtained worlds that offer a glimpse of this rich and empathetic world. Maybe we are in a cabaret, a zoo, an asylum or a stage…

With shows that have toured to 30 countries across six continents including recent hit seasons in Berlin and the Brisbane Festival, Circa’s work is a stripped back circus for the heart.

“His songs are warm and inviting and his guitar skills superb. Lior is a sheer pleasure to watch in live performance”Australian Stage online

Lior is known for his dynamic and moving performances, and is considered one of Australia’s finest live performers. He is one of those rare artists who has achieved a great degree of success and critical acclaim, whilst maintaining an independence and individuality in his craft.

Recently, in between extensive international touring and writing and composing Compassion, his collaborative work with close friend Nigel Westlake, Lior also found time to write and record his fourth studio album Scattered Reflections which was released in March 2014.

Lior will be playing a selection of new songs from the album alongside some of his much-loved favourites.

“Gasps of wonder and amazement” Edinburgh Reporter

“The most surprisingly enchanting, spellbinding, funny and uplifting show I have ever seen.” Glasshouse patron after Sticks, Stones, Broken Bones in 2013

A shadow puppet comedy, about one man’s romp through a swamp.

After enchanting us with Sticks Stones Broken Bones in 2013, acclaimed performer Jeff Achtem (Bunk Puppets) returns with Swamp Juice. Using bits of rubbish and household items, Jeff creates intricate and funny stories using shadow puppetry.

Swamp Juice is a simple story, told with no dialogue or text. A man explores a swamp, interacting with a pair of bickering snails, a mouse teasing a snake and bird feeding its chick. A chase begins, and the man and the bird tear about the theatre, leaping off the stage, zipping around on all the walls and the ceiling above.

Then, in a gripping DIY finale, you will be handed a pair of 3D glasses and the chase moves into 3D shadow puppetry! Jellyfish hanging over your head, and swamp monsters leaping out from the shadow puppet screen, Swamp Juice will be a totally unforgettable experience.

Swamp Juice is a playful and immersive puppet experience, for all ages and a show for all the family to enjoy.

“Seymour’s play, now 28 years old, has qualities of human and social interest that remain unimpaired by time and change.” The Sydney Morning Herald

“It’s Anzac Day this week, that’s my day, that’s the old Diggers’ day.”

What is the meaning of Anzac Day? For war veterans like Alf Cook and his friend Wacka Dawson, it’s the chance to commemorate history, celebrate heroism and conjure national pride. For Alf’s son Hughie, Anzac Day flies the flag for a very different reality, one that brings the dignity of our Diggers to its knees and into the gutter – via one too many down the pub.

Sparking huge controversy on its release in the Sixties, the play’s first ever production had a policeman stationed at the stage door to ward off the angry public. Death threats were issued to the author. A play that incites as much passion now as ever, The One Day of the Year looks at our national legend through the eyes of generation, class and character. On the 100 year anniversary of the Gallipoli landing, HIT Productions brings a thoroughly fresh take on this truly Australian classic.

“Stunning”... “Brilliant”... “Hysterical entertainment”...

After sell-out performances in Berlin, Singapore, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and New Zealand, this “funny, lyrical, surprising and mischievous” blend of dance, music, film and song is coming to the Glasshouse for one show only.

Blue Love is a poetic and satirical take on the clichés of pop culture, romance, coupledom and suburbia where TV soap meets art-house film, ‘60s kitsch meets medieval love song, and pop culture cliché meets breathtaking poignancy.

In this wildly entertaining expedition Glenn and Rhonda Flune take the audience on an expedition in search of the perfect relationship.

Parodying the lip-service given to love and its incarnations., this quirky, character-based work is a multi-media, physical theatre comedy: accessible, challenging and enormously entertaining.

Blue Love was devised and choreographed by SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE choreographer Shaun Parker, who also starred as a tango dancer in Baz Luhrmann’s MOULIN ROUGE.

‘Kelly is a subtle, smart imagining of Ned Kelly’s last night alive, charged with unfulfilled potential and torturous regret, and deeply moving to the bitter end. 4.5 stars” Brisbane Times

The new Australian play, Kelly, an intimate yet a theatrically ambitious drama, wrestles with themes surrounding one of our country’s greatest historic icons.

Ned Kelly sits in his prison cell. Tomorrow he is going to hang. A wounded beast in a cage, defiant till the end. A priest enters to give him his last rites and it is revealed to be Dan Kelly - Ned’s younger brother believed burnt to death at Glenrowan. Dan is desperate and needs one last thing from his older brother and Ned stands firmly against him.

History tells us that Dan and Ned never saw eye to eye and there is also myth that Dan escaped the fire and disappeared to Queensland. This makes for a brilliantly charged premise, explored beautifully on stage, weaving Kelly fact, theory and myth while exploring masculinity, brotherhood and the dangerous dynamic of mateship.

Kelly boasts a brilliant cast of three of Brisbane’s finest actors - led by the Matilda Award winning Steven Rooke who plays Ned Kelly in a powerhouse performance with humour, heart and depth.

“My eight year old co-reviewer loved the show... has the kids engaged and amused from the outset.” The Australian on The 13-Storey Treehouse

Well, what are you waiting for? Come on up! THEY’RE BACK!

Yes, that’s right. Andy and Terry had such a ball with their crash-landing entry into the world of theatre with The 13-Storey Treehouse, they’re back for more. 13 storeys more, in fact. AND YOU’RE INVITED!

You know what 13 more storeys means. More INVENTIONS – like the 78 flavour ice-cream dispensing robot and the brain bamboozling Maze of Doom (not to mention the self-inflating underpants) and more things to go WRONG – not least of which is the very real possibility that the entire show is a complete and utter disaster. Will Andy and Terry push their friend Jill to her absolute limits? And who is this shady Hector Houtkop, with a really bad pirate accent?

And what about ALL THOSE PIRATES?

Adapted by award-winning playwright and author Richard Tulloch (The Book of Everything, Bananas in Pyjamas), The 26-Storey Treehouse is brought to you by the same cracker team that delivered the smash-hit stage version of The 13-Storey Treehouse.

Director Damien Ryan With Josh McConville & Matilda Ridgway

“This is why we still do the Bard’s plays – there’s truth and humanity in all of them still, it just takes the right set of ingredients..” The Sunday Herald Sun on Henry V

Touring nationally as part of Bell Shakespeare’s 25th anniversary season is the hardy perennial Hamlet.

Dark acts result in darker consequences. And there is little that’s darker and more complicated than the act of revenge.

A family torn apart by murder, a son burdened with the truth and the task of avenging his father, and a country on the brink of war.

Anguish, passion and desperation collide in this tragic telling of Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark who is tormented by the impossibility of his dilemma, and who remains one of theatre’s most fascinating characters.

Damien Ryan, returning to Bell Shakespeare following the critically acclaimed Henry V in 2014, will deliver a new production of Hamlet, infused with the passion, contemplation and emotion that Shakespeare’s compelling poetry cries out for. This production delves into the depths of the complexity, violence, philosophical reflection, madness and maddening seduction of Hamlet.

The London Haydn Quartet’s series of recordings of Haydn’s quartets on the Hyperion label (the op 9, op 17, op 20 and op 33 quartets to date) have met with international critical acclaim.

Coming to Australia in 2015 to feature in the Melbourne International Arts Festival and a concert performance at the Sydney Opera House, the Glasshouse is privileged to bring these international, world renowned musicians to our region.

In addition to their impressive performance resume the quartet has also taught in several series of master-classes at the Juilliard School of Music, Indiana University Bloomington, Yale University, Royal Academy of Music and the Domaine Forget amongst others, and are undoubtedly experts in their field.

“a show for all ages, and with its mix of thrills and slapstick comedy... this is that rarest of beasts: a performance that everybody can enjoy” Brisbane Times, September 2014

Following the 2014 premiere in Melbourne under the Big Top, an action-packed national tour including Palm Island, and a smash-hit international tour across America to Montreal, Circus Oz rockets into Port Macquarie with their show But Wait...There’s More.

Performed within a spectacular large-scale set inspired by an abandoned theatre in tatters, the touring circus troupe arrive, with hula showstoppers, and unicycle jaw-droppers, they delight and entertain. The MC interacts with the audience: hip hop call and response coolness, this is LIVE and the audience can feel the authenticity. Circus Oz is a celebration of diversity. Tricks, flips and twists.

With an astonishing mix of stunt-jumping acrobatics, cutting-edge juggling, virtuosic unicycling, elegant flying trapeze, cheeky impersonations, ridiculous knockabout and multi-skilled human physical exuberance, But Wait...There’s More uses circus to satirise the rising tide of information, speed, consumerism, visual pollution, television, the ‘net and today’s manic fast-paced lifestyles. All of this is entwined within original music performed by Circus Oz’s live and physically acrobatic band.

“striking, layered, surprising…absolutely transporting”Sun Herald

An original and breathtaking theatrical experience: Kinship (featuring two works Brolga and ID), by award-winning choreographer Stephen Page.

The first piece Brolga is a creation story inspired by the totemic systems in Australian Aboriginal culture, where every person is assigned a creature totem related to their clan.

The performance continues with ID, investigating what it means to be Aboriginal in the 21st century, asking important questions of identity. This bold dance theatre work celebrates the resilience of Australian Aboriginal culture in both its traditional and contemporary forms.

Cowards, murderers or heroes? Life or death?

Ned Kelly is about to hang for his crimes, but his final night in prison is interrupted by the arrival of his brother Dan, disguised as a priest. Supposedly killed at the siege of Glenrowan, Dan is intent on moving north to Queensland and forgetting his past. To do so, he needs Ned’s blessing and forgiveness. But the last time they saw each other, Dan tried to shoot Ned dead.

So begins a brutal confrontation by two titans of Australian history. Facing the sins of their past, each blames the other for their downfall. And neither will escape unharmed.

A unique opportunity for senior drama students to work directly with professional actors from Queensland Theatre Company.

Participants will work with  the cast members from KELLY on tasks based around the themes of the play and linking with curriculum outcomes.
