City Centre The heart of the city is the civic space of George Square, which is home to statues of prominent historical Scottish figures.
The focal point of George Square is one of the city’s most iconic and imposing buildings, the City Chambers, whose magnificence tells the story of the wealth and industrial prosperity of the Second City of the Empire. It is one of the most beautiful civic buildings in the UK.
It was opened by Queen Victoria in 1888, and for over a hundred years has been the headquarters of successive city councils. Guided tours to see the grand interiors are available for tours and groups.
Glasgow is a shopper’s paradise, recognised as one of the best shopping experiences outside London’s West End. You’ll find the biggest brands and retailers in the Style Mile, including Buchanan Galleries, St. Enoch Centre, and Princes Square among others.
Sauchiehall Street is a vibrant little part of Glasgow and a must visit for anyone coming to the city. Sauchiehall Street - ‘Sauchiehall’ means avenue of the
willows in Gaelic - is great for nightlife and cultural attractions. There is an abundance of restaurants, bars and clubs, including a former cinema and the largest nightclub in Glasgow.
Notable landmarks include The Glasgow School of Art ,Centre for Contemporary Arts, Tenement House, Glasgow Film Theatre and the Royal Highland Fusiliers Museum.

Merchant CityOnly minutes from George Square and seconds from the bustle of the busy shopping precints is the Merchant City, the historic and ancient heart of Glasgow, where in the 18th century, the Tobacco Lords had their warehouses.
The merchants’ warehouses have left behind a legacy of amazing architecture and many are now home to buzzing bars, luxury apartments, tenement flats, award-winning restaurants, design shops and artist galleries.
Your clients will find this neighbourhood with its stunning buildings fascinating to explore on one of the city’s many walking tours.
After exploring the Gallery of Modern Art on Royal Exchange Square, visitors
can continue along Ingram Street, which features high-end, designer stores such as Mulberry, Ralph Lauren, Armani, Cruise and Agent Provocateur - the ultimate in retail therapy.
Follow the road along to Candleriggs and Merchant Square - once home to the city’s fruitmarket, now a stylish hub of bars, restaurants and spacious indoor courtyard used for various events.

West EndVoted ‘Best Neighbourhood in UK & Ireland’ by the Academy of Urbanism, Glasgow’s West End, with its ornate sandstone tenements and museum, is a must-visit while you are in the city.
With stunning Neo-Gothic university buildings, leafy parks and gardens, artisan eateries, specialist delis, bustling bars and a wealth of vintage shops, there’s plenty to do for everyone.
The magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum houses one of Europe’s great art collections. It is amongst the top three free-to-enter visitor attractions in Scotland and one of the most visited museums in the United Kingdom outside of London.
This neighbourhood is also home to the University of Glasgow, which was founded in 1451, and is the 4th oldest university in the English speaking world. The University offers student lead tours
of the campus including the neo-gothic quadrangles and cloisters, which bear more than a passing resemblance to Hogwarts in the Harry Potter novels!
If your clients are craving some green space, look no further than Kelvingrove Park, with its River Kelvin walkway. Also located here are the Botanic Gardens, a tranquil blend of formal gardens and woodland walks, world-class orchid collection and the beautiful Kibble Palace.

FinniestonThe Times recently named Finnieston as ‘the hippest place to live in the UK’. Often quirky, sometimes unconventional, the most recent wave of resturants, bars and cafes have helped make Finnieston a strong contender for the title of Glasgow’s most vibrant neighbourhood.
As well as its eclectic dining scene, Finnieston is also home to the SSE Hydro, which is ranked as the third busiest entertainment arena in the world, hosting more than 1 million visitors each year.
Another must-see in the neighbourhood is the iconic Riverside Museum, which houses Glasgow’s transport collection and is former European Musuem of the Year.
Designed by the late Zaha Hadid, Riverside highlights Glasgow’s history as an industrial powerhouse and the personal stories of just some of the
people who made this possible.
Amongst the 3000 objects on display are a recreated Glasgow street, Clyde-built trams, locomotives, cars, bikes, buses and model ships.
The Tall Ship berthed at Riverside is now the only remaining Clyde-built sailing vessel afloat in the UK and is an icon of Glasgow’s ship building heritage.

SouthsideGlasgow’s Southside is home to two of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s most famous buildings, Scotland Street School Musuem and House for an Art Lover, and Tramway - the Scottish Ballet’s home and venue for the 2015 Turner Prize.
You’ll also find Glasgow’s biggest green space, Pollok Country Park, home to The Burrell Collection and Glasgow’s very own Downton Abbey, Pollok House.
The tree-lined conservation area of Strathbungo in the Southside is home to a rapidly growing cluster of restaurants and bars, nestled amongst historic architecture of another of Glasgow’s most famous sons, Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson.
The House for an Art Lover was designed by Mackintosh in 1901 as an elegant country retreat for an achitectural competition, and was actually realised in 1996 when it opened in Bellahouston Park. Today, the attraction combines art gallery and exhibition space, along with restaurant and multipurpose artists’ studios.
Scotland Street School Museum is another fine example of Mackintosh’s work, and given it’s previous life as a fully operational school, the museum offers a unique look into Scottish education from the late 19th to the late 20th century.
Pollok Park is home to the beautiful Pollok House, with a fantastic Spanish art collection within its grand interior design. The park’s extensive woodlands and gardens provide a quiet sanctuary for both visitors and wildlife, and is rich in rural history, formerly being part of the old Pollok Estate and ancestral home of the Maxwell family.
The Burrell Collection is the home to over 8,000 objects including an eclectic mix of medieval art, ancient Egyptian and Chinese artifacts, the works of the Impressionists and many more. Currently undergoing a major £60 million refurbishment The Burrell Collection will reopen in 2020.

East End The East End of Glasgow is the oldest part of the city and is home to the Cathedral Precinct, where you will find the Cathedral of St. Mungo, St. Mungo Museum and Provand’s Lordship.
The medieval Glasgow Cathedral originates from the 12th century and is the finest surviving Gothic building in Scotland.
This neighbourhood also has plenty to offer on the food and drink front and is home to no less than three breweries, numerous independent cafes and restaurants, the Barras Market and the legendary Barrowland Ballroom.
The Barrowland Ballroom, opened in 1934 as a dancehall is now one of Glasgow’s major music venues, having played host to many big names including Oasis, Green Day, U2, David Bowie and Metallica.
Housed in the beautiful settings of Glasgow Green, The People’s Palace and Winter Garden is a museum and glasshouse that hosts a collection showing how 18th to 20th century Glaswegians lived, worked and played.
The East End is fast becoming a creative hub and home to a plethora or art and design studios, including the Barras Art & Design Centre (BAaD), MANY Studios and Market Gallery to name a few.
Glasgow Green, the closest park to the city centre, is the city’s oldest park, where you will find the spectacular Doulton Fountain, the largest terracotta fountain in the world, and the beautiful McLennan Arch and The People’s Palace and Winter Garden.
The People’s Palace and Winter Garden is a museum and glasshouse that hosts a collection showing how 18th to 20th century Glaswegians lived, worked and played.

North GlasgowWalking trails, architectural gems, adventure sports and great cafes can be found just a short stroll North of the city centre.
With over 10 parks and gardens, the Forth and Clyde Canal and Queens Cross Church, North Glasgow has a number of hidden gems to discover.
Opened in 1790, the Forth and Clyde Canal was vital to the growth of Glasgow as it provided key trade and transportation links. Now, the area is transforming into a fantastic waterside environment for both locals and visitors, including attractions such as Spiers Wharf, The Whisky Bond and a number of heritage trails.
For those looking for unique urban adventure experiences - Pinkston is a community paddlesports centre with Scotland’s only artificial whitewater course, and The Glasgow Tigers Speedway motorcycle racing is just 10 minutes from the City Centre.
It is in this district that you will discover Queen’s Cross Church, the only church in the world designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh commissioned in 1896.
Next door is the Cafe d’Jaconelli, a Glasgow institution dating back to 1924 and still as popular today, with its classic, old school menu.
