Geoquip Supports Local Hospice Geoquip was thrilled to kick off the year by raising funds for our local St Helena Hospice in Colchester(www.sthelena.org.uk). Together our team of 11 combined their talents at running, cycling, jogging, swimming and walking, tocomplete a grand total of 1,287 miles. Converting that into pounds, it means we’ve raised over £1,000 to the hospice’s Make it Matter 2019campaign. Thank you to everyone for their hard work and also to everyone who sponsored us.

New Compact Wireless SCOUT Control Panel A recent addition to the Geoquip panel range is the innovative new wireless SCOUT ElectronicControl Panel for private borehole water pumping systems. Aimed predominantly at home owners and small businesses who have either already invested in theirown borehole technology, or plan to do so in the future, its small, compact size uses smartphone wi-fitechnology to transform a standard pumping system into a smart system. With a 100-metre range, it means owners and operators can simply dial into the control panel to readthe latest statistics, double check alarms and monitor data. Available exclusively through Geoquip Water Solutions, the new low-cost panel is capable ofmanaging up to three pumps simultaneously, and is suitable for applications with surface pumps,pressurisation pumps, deep well pumps and submersible pumps.

New Franklin Motor Goes Green The new High Efficiency Submersible Borehole System (HES), from Franklin Electric E-tech, isdelivering energy saving efficiencies for customers of up to 20% above standard borehole motors. The only submersible system of its kind on the market, it uses pre-written software and asynchronous submersible NEMA permanent magnet motor, an associated variable frequency driveand output filter to deliver greater efficiency with higher power density. This sets it apart from current asynchronous technology as it means the windings are permanentlymagnitised, therefore using less energy when starting and running, delivering both a smoother andfaster solution. By improving motor efficiency and with significantly lower motor heat rise, it promises a return oninvestment within two years. Franklin’s Richard Knipe says the HES is suitable for any installation where energy efficiency is apriority, citing large complexes such as hospitals, municipal buildings and large industrial premises as

typical examples. In addition to water abstraction from boreholes, it also fits perfectly within open loopground source heat pump installations, where its clever technology reduces the amount of parasiticenergy required to run the pumping equipment. As a strategic partner, Geoquip is working with the Franklin team, together providing technicalsupport and training seminars to highlight the benefits of the new technology.
