Purpose:

To determine advantage corneal cryo-therapy to avoid evisceration in impending prolapse of the eye ball due to descemetocele

Setting/Venue:

Sumatera Eye Center, Medan, Indonesia

Methods:

26 eyes of 26 patients suffered from impending prolapse of the eye ball due to descemetocele, underwent corneal cryo-therapy, followed 1 week, 1 month and 3 month post operatively.

Results:

26 patients achieved improving in thickness and strength of the descemetocele wall. All patients (100%) did not need any evisceration and got successfully in saving the eye balls

Conclusion:

Corneal cryo-therapy may be a potent treatment to avoid evisceration in impending prolapse of the eye ball due to descemetocele
