Dear customer,

Thank you for choosing an item from our collection of upholstered furniture. Our state-of-the-art production processes combined with more than 50 years of upholstery experience ensure that this product will serve you well for many years - if cared for and correctly maintained !

Please therefore follow the instructions and tips very carefully.

YOUR NEW SOFA

Your upholstered furniture has been produced to give long lasting and optimal comfort.Unlike car seats or chairs we use upholstery material with a softer appearance. Maybe after a short space of time you will notice folds or creases appearing on the back or seat areas of your sofa. This is absolutely normal and is not indicative of a fault. Therefore, this does not constitute grounds for complaint.

LOOSE SEAT CUSHIONSLoose seat cushions will move with use. Therefore you may need to plump them back into their original shape from time to time. This is also advisable for the support base beneath the seat cushions and behind the back cushions. When possible remove the seat cushion co-vers and have them dry cleaned (do not wash). In addi-tion it is advisable to swap your cushions around so that they are being used equally.

YOUR NEW UPHOLSTERY

It is common with many types of upholstery that in the first weeks/months of use small bobbles may appear. Remove these as you would with a woolen jumper.Materials such as Microfibre, Chenille and Velour can appear to change shade slightly, this is normal and not a defect. Likewise the appearance of the pile may also change with use.

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight as this may fade the material. Ensure there is a gap between your piece of furniture and any radiators or heaters.

In very dry rooms, modern textiles tend to build up sta-tic electricity. This is not healthy either for you or your upholstered furniture. We would therefore advise you to bring a little humidity into the room especially in winter.

English

To restore a smooth finish, gently rub the folds from left to right in the direction of the armrests. After a short space of time the folds and creases will become less prominent.

Folds and creases will occur due to everyday use. Upholstery material will stretch and the upper uphol-stery layer will compress. The underlying high quality foam and springs will stay in shape for years.

Sofas with sleeping elements, relax elements and cor-ner units have been specially reinforced, these too are durable for years to come. These seating areas will feel slightly harder due to this reinforcement. Try to use each seating area equally to ensure the quality of the seat cushions stays the same.

LOOSE BACK CUSHIONSDepending on the model, loose back cushions are filled with feathers, foam or base-cloth. These need to be “plumped” regularly so they keep their original shape and appearance.

English

Such wrinkles will not affect either the quality or lifespan of your upholstered furniture. This is part of the design and a natural process that occurs over the course of your furniture’s long life.

Be aware that the colour from some materials can transfer to other materials, for example, jeans especially stone washed jeans. You can test to see if the colour from jeans comes out by using a white cloth. In reverse, colour from your sofa could also transfer to light coloured clothing. If this is the case treat the surfaces with a cloth dipped in a vinegar/water mixture (50/50).

Please take this seriously because pigment coloured materi-als are very difficult to clean, indeed even not at all.

QUARTERLY – HALF YEARLY BASIC CLEANINGFrom time to time, at least once a year, you should damp clean your upholstered furniture to dispose of any oil or fat particles. This should be undertaken by an expert. If, however, you wish to do this yourself, please use only special upholstery cleaning products and follow the instructions carefully. Remember to first test the product on a hidden part of the furniture. We do not take responsibility for improper cleaning.

CARE OF IMITATION LEATHERGenerally only use clear water to clean and maintain. Using a stain remover or cleaning product will damage the imitation leather.

REMOVING STAINSStains are easier removed immediately. Dab an ab-sorbent cloth or paper towel on the damp stain, the remains can be removed with a watered down uphol-stery shampoo or carpet cleaner (follow manufacturers guide-lines). Always use a clean cloth and never put the cleaning product directly onto the material.

Lightly rub the cloth over the stain using a damp cloth carefully removes the remains of the cleaning agent. If this is not done another stain will form. Re-use your furniture only when it has completely dried.

The removal of stubborn stains should only be done by a specialist. Cleaning products contain aggressive

When making a repeat order of upholstered furniture be aware that there could be a very slight difference in colour due to fading material and with each production there could also be a slight difference in shade.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

The inside of our upholstered furniture does not need any care or maintenance. If you wish to reupholster your furniture please speak to your dealer on beforehand.

WEEKLY CARE OF UPHOLSTERED MATERIALSFurniture used daily will naturally become dusty and a little soiled. Do not leave dirt too long as it will become harder to clean. Vacuum your upholstered furniture on a weekly basis using the special upholster nozzle. This is important especially for light coloured materials.

Dear customer,

Thank you for choosing an item from our collection of upholstered furniture. Our state-of-the-art production processes combined with more than 50 years of upholstery experience ensure that this product will serve you well for many years.

Leather is a natural, precious and durable material provided it is cared for and maintained correctly.

Please read the following information and tips very carefully.

Keep this leaflet in a safe place.

LEATHER – A NATURAL PRODUCT

Our leather is produced from the skins of free-roaming cattle. The unique history of each animal is visible on its skin in the form of scars, insect bites, stretch marks, veining and brand marks. We use a natural tanning procedure which means that you may find some of these markings on your new furniture. These features are a natural part of hide and are not indicative of a fault. They do therefore not constitute grounds for complaint!

TYPICAL MARKINGS OVER TIME

The formation of wrinkles on the seat and backrest is normal and unavoidable for all soft upholstered furniture. Pressure and heat stretch the leather and sitting on an item for a short time causes the formation of slight wrinkles in the material, in particular on large upholstered sections.

Wrinkles on the backrest, on the seat, on the armrest

Noise: When operating the electrical functions it is possible that the surfaces of the leather skins rub against each other. This could cause slight squeaking noises, an effect which is normal and unavoidable. Your specialized dealer offers products that enable you to treat the leather in order to reduce this noise.

Such wrinkles do not affect either the quality or lifespan of your upholste-red furniture. This is part of the design and a natural process that occurs over the course of your furniture’s long life.

ADDITIONAL ADVICE

Ensure a gap of at least 20 cm between your furniture and any radiators or heaters. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, as this will fade and dry out the leather. Maintain your leather upholstery as described in the “Care” section to keep it flexible and prevent the pores from becoming blocked. Take care with pets, as their claws could leave permanent scratches in the leather.

CARE

Routine cleaning:

In principle, leather requires regular care and cleaning. Clean your furniture from time to time using a soft damp cloth to ensure that no dust becomes trapped in the po-res. To dampen the cloth, use lukewarm tap water only or a small amount of Leather Soft Cleaner*.

Thorough cleaning:

> METHOD 1Twice a year, clean all leather sections using lukewarm distilled water and a little alkaline-free soap on a soft clean cloth. Always wash from seam to seam. Wipe the furniture using clear water on a damp cloth to remove any remaining soap deposits from the leather and then dry using a woollen cloth. Do not leave leather to dry in the sun and do not use a hairdryer. If you are not sure

Please note these important recommendations and rest assured: marks that may be perceived as blemishes by the uninitiated are in fact signs of the rich history of a high-quality natural product.

you have selected the correct leather product, test it first on a small area in a non-visible location at the back.

> METHOD 2 (particularly recommended)

Twice a year, apply Leather Soft Cleaner* to a clean sponge and press the sponge until foam appears. Apply the foam all over the leather using gentle circular mo-vements. Remove any excess foam using a soft cloth and leave the leather to dry for half an hour. For impro-ved stain resistance, apply Leather Protection Cream* and leave to dry again.

Stain removal:

For food and grease stains, first remove any excess using a clean paper towel. Blot any spilled liquids IMMEDIATELY using an absorbent paper towel, do not rub in!Then, if necessary, clean the entire area using luke-warm distilled water and alkali-free soap. Wipe with a damp cloth and then dry using a woollen cloth. The best way to remove biro, ink, lipstick stains, etc. is with Ink Away*.

IMPORTANT HINTS ON CONVENIENCE FUNCTIONS

To avoid damage or injury, please read carefully and respect the safety warnings hereunder.

1. Risk of injury

There is a risk of crushing or squashing when seat functions are opened out – especially if Relax is open!

Never reach inside the cutting mechanism. Make sure children are properly supervised! The Relax function should be used only by adults.

Before closing up, it is essential you ensure that no people, animals, limbs or other objects of any kind are inside the mechanism, as these will prevent it from closing.

2. Maximum load

Please note that both seat functions (RELAX and VARIO) are designed for a maximum load of 120kg.

It is not possible to guarantee correct functioning if subjected to loads greater than 120kg for a prolonged period.

3. Correct use

It is essential that you ensure your furniture is used correctly and as intended. Never sit down on adjustable headrests and/or armrests.

These are not designed to take such a weight, not even children, and the sensitive mechanisms would suffer irreparable damage. The footrests of Relax components are likewise not designed to take a great weight. Accordingly, never sit on an extended footrest, and always retract the mechanism fully before getting up.A slight noise that arises when operating the electrical functions is normal. This noise is generated either by the electric motors or by a possible friction of the metal parts of the built-in mechanisms.

4. Models with rechargeable battery

The items supplied for this model include a rechargeable battery and the appropriate cable. The rechargeable battery is a fixed sealed unit, built into the furniture’s structure. At the rear of the component is the connection for the charger. The position of the charging socket was decided at the time of configuring your furniture.

Our rechargeable batteries come pre-charged at time of delivery.

If a short beep sounds when the armchair is moved about, this means the rechargeable battery is almost flat. In this case, there is enough spare capacity to adjust the preferred seating position. However, the rechargeable battery should be recharged without delay. If the rechargeable battery is not recharged immediately, the battery will cut the power supply out shortly afterwards.

To recharge, press the plug supplied for the power supply into the socket. Then insert the mains adaptor into a 220V socket. The rechargeable battery is fully charged when the red LED at the mains adaptor no longer shows. Unplug the mains adaptor from the mains supply on completing the charging procedure.

Use ONLY the mains adaptor supplied for charging. Other types of adaptor can destroy the rechargeable battery. The charger will heat up while charging owing to chemical reactions. At the end of the charging process, the rechargeable battery will feel warm to the touch.

However, if the rechargeable battery gets really hot, there is a fault affecting the protective shield.

In this case, contact your dealer and have the rechargeable battery inspected by a specialist. Our modern lithium-ion rechargeable batteries can be

recharged up to 1000 times. After around 400 charging cycles, their capacity will diminish by about 20%.Take special note of the phenomenon of a rechargeable battery spontaneously going flat. It loses around 2% of its charge a month. A charged battery can go completely flat even if you have not actually used any electric function. Thus, it can happen that you will need to recharge the battery, for example after returning from holiday, even if it has hardly been used. Irrespective of the battery’s state of charge, we therefore recommend that you recharge it fully every 2 months. Please note that battery replacements can be undertaken only by qualified specialist dealers. In this event, contact the dealer from whom you purchased the furniture.

Advice on disposal:The rechargeable battery pack is manufactured in accordance with EC guideline 2002/96. This guideline regulates the proper disposal of electrical and electronic appliances, for sustainable protection of the environment. You should dispose of the rechargeable battery pack at a designated collection point, in accordance with local arrangements.
