Trails in the area follow dirt roads, single track trails and cross-country ski trails. The Galena Trails are used by bikers, hikers, and horses, as well as sheep and wildlife. Please be especially alert to the presence of animals and courteous to their handlers. Be aware that some routes are open to motorized vehicles and remember to follow proper trail courtesy when traveling on all routes. Trails on the west side of Hwy 75 were designed with equestrians in mind (flat trails, no banked corners), while trails on the east side of the highway were designed with mountain bikes in mind (banked corners). No Charge for summer trail use. Dogs allowed on all summer trails. FOREST SERVICE BLAINE COUNTY RECREATION DISTRICT GALENA SUMMER TRAILS PROJECT The BCRD, the Sawtooth NRA and Galena Lodge have partnered to create a 47-mile non-motorized trail network in the Galena Lodge area. The project provides a variety of trails in a stacked loop system for all kinds of users including hikers, bikers, and equestrians from beginner to advanced. This current map includes completed existing trails as well as trails to be built in this 3 rd and final summer of construction. To Ketchum from Lodge, 23 miles To Stanley Salmon River PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL of other users, regardless of their mode, speed or level of skill. DON’T BLOCK the trail. Keep right except to pass. SLOWER TRAFFIC has the right-of-way. BIKERS - Yield to traffic when crossing trails and roads. Anticipate traffic on curves and intersections. Yield to pedestrians and equestrians. DON’T SPOOK THE HORSES! Slow down, speak to them when passing. GIVE ADVANCE NOTICE BEFORE PASSING. Use voice or bell. Pass on the left. HELMETS SAVE LIVES! Please wear one. It features prime wildlife habitat and leads into the northern Boulder Mountains (trail not shown in its entirety). The road is rough to the sign-in box.
