• Stetson enters with a 3-11 record and 1-1 mark in Atlantic Sun Conference action after splitting with Lipscomb (W, 65-63) and Northern Kentucky (L, 67-65 OT) earlier this week.
• Willie Green leads the Hatters in scoring with 13.1 per game, one of three double-figure scorers with Aaron Gra-ham (10.5) and Raymone Andrews (10.4) being the others.
• Stetson’s 61.2 points per game average ranks 338th out of 345 Division-I programs.
• The game will be a matchup of the A-Sun’s leading de-fensive team in FGCU (65.9 points per game) against the league’s worst offensive team in Stetson.
• The Hatters’ -5.8 rebound margin is 323rd in the nation.
• Green is shooting 57.7 percent (71-123) from the field, good for 36th in the country and third in the A-Sun.
• Stetson has won three of its last five games after starting the season with nine straight losses.
• All three of the Hatters’ wins have come at home where they are 3-2 and 0-9 in road or neutral-site contests.
• In addition to Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky, FGCU and Stetson both played Florida A&M, FIU and USF; Stetson went 0-3 against the group, while FGCU went 1-2.
Record Rebounding
He’s back In FlightEric McKnight, who was suspended for the first 12 games of the season for a violation of team rules, returned in the Eagles’ Dec. 23 game in Las Vegas against Radford, scoring seven points on 2-3 shooting and 3-4 from the free-throw line. One of four starters who return from last sea-son’s record-making Sweet 16 squad, the 6-9 forward made his first start of the year against Lipscomb on Wednesday and has already rejected six shots in those three contests.
19 Against USF on Dec. 17, Nate Hicks set the program’s D-I program record with 19 re-bounds - all on the defensive end - while tying the all-divi-sion mark.

Locking InHead coach Joe Dooley has em-phasized defense since the start of the year, and over the past six games the Eagles have started to stabilize that defense. During that stretch – starting with an 83-51 win over Samford – FGCU has low-ered its points per game allowed in every game but one, and in
that contest it remained the same. In the six-game stretch, FGCU has gone from allowing 67.3 points per game to 67.2, 67.2, 67, 66.2 and now 65.9.
FGCU’s 65.9 scoring defense average leads the A-Sun by nearly five points (Mercer, 70.6) and ranks inside the top-75 nationally.
SCORInG THREaTBy design, Brett Comer has been much more aggres-sive in looking to score this year than in previous years. He leads FGCU in scoring at 14.9 per game, an average which ranks fourth in the A-Sun. Of the 18 times in his career that he’s led the Eagles in scor-ing, nine have occurred this year, including four of his eight career 20-point games. After shooting 44 percent as a freshman and 40.4 percent as a sopho-more, this year Comer is connecting at a 49.7-per-cent clip from the floor. He’s also already matched his previous season high for made 3-pointers (13) while still leading the Green and Blue and ranking second in the A-Sun in assists at 5.2 per game.

After beating Stetson by 31 points, 96-65, in the first meet-ing last year, the Hatters responded with an 80-71 win in De-land. That game, on Feb. 22, was the final time the Eagles
were beaten until they fell to Florida in the Sweet Sixteen.
RECORD SETTERSAgainst Hartford on the morning of Nov. 12 in front of a national TV audience on ESPN2, Chase Fieler put up, statistically, the greatest single-game performance in D-I program history ... until it was sur-passed by Bernard Thompson on Dec. 17 against USF.

Looking further into the Eagles’ home-court ad-vantage, FGCU’s first non-conference loss at Alico since the 2010-11 season took place Dec. 1 against Iona, breaking a stretch of 15 straight wins at home. The Green and Blue went 5-0 in 2011-12, 7-0 in 2012-13 and 4-1 this year.
16-1
paYInG DIVIDEnSWhen head coach Joe Dooley took over the FGCU program in the offseason, one of the key areas the former Kansas assistant empha-sized was taking care of the ball. Last year, FGCU ranked 282nd in the nation in turnovers per game at 14.7. This season, the Eagles have ranked among the top 100 teams in the coun-try, and they currently turn it over at an aver-age of just 12.9 giveaways per game.
FGCU has made at least one 3-pointer in 128 consecu-tive games. Only twice since the program’s inception in 2002-03 have the Eagles failed to make a 3 in a game, and those games occurred back-to-back during the 2009-10 season. FGCU went 0-10 against UNF and then completed the homestand by going 0-8 versus Jackson-ville two days later. Until that point, the Green and Blue had knocked down a 3-pointer in 228 straight games.
Home (6-1)/ROaD (1-5) BREakDOWnThe only category in which FGCU has been significantly better on the road than at home is free-throw shooting as the Eagles are connecting at just 60 percent (75-125) at home but do so at a 65-percent clip (63-97) on the road.
Furthermore, in FGCU’s first three road games, both Chase Fieler and Nate Hicks got into early foul trouble as each starter picked up two fouls in each game after just eight min-utes of action. For Fieler, the Eagles lone senior picked up both of his fouls within the first five minutes of the games starting.

In their eight wins, FGCU is grabbing 37.6 rebounds per game and out-boarding its opposi-tion by a +5.3 margin. However, in its seven losses, FGCU corals just 31.3 rebounds and is being out-re-bounded by a -4.4 disparity.

Brett Comer has 12 career double-figure assist games. The player with the next closest total in the A-Sun is
Mercer senior Langston Hall who only has three such games.
Last year, 10 of FGCU’s 11 losses came away from Alico Arena, and so far
this season only one of the Eagles’ losses have occurred inside the friendly confines of The Nest. Dating back to last year, FGCU has won 12 of its past 13 home games, and boasts a 21-2 record at Alico Arena since the start of the 2012-13 campaign. (Loss-es: Lipscomb, Iona).

FGCU ATHLETICSDID YOU KNOW? • FGCU has won a combined 32 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 6+ years in Division I as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference & Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association.
• In just 2+ years of Division I postseason eligibility, FGCU has sent 7 teams to the NCAA Tournament, while men’s golf and women’s swimming have had an individual participate in their respective NCAA Championship each year.
• Backed by four Atlantic Sun regular season crowns and four more teams that finished in the top 3 of the conference standings, FGCU swept all three of the a-sun all-sport races in 2012-13. The four A-Sun regular season titles were tied for a league-high, while the Eagles are just the second A-Sun member to sweep the three All-Sport races.
• After becoming the first team into the NCAA field of 68 by winning the A-Sun Tournament, the FGCU men’s basketball team became the first no. 15 seed in nCaa tournament history to advance to the sweet 16. The Eagles became the Cinderella of the 2013 dance, as they defeated No. 2 seed Georgetown and No. 7 seed San Diego State. The team’s up-tempo style and refreshing charisma resulted in Fort Myers being called “Dunk City.”
• FGCU women’s basketball was just the second A-Sun team to produce a perfect conference regular season in 2011-12, going 18-0, but it became the first to do so in back-to-back seasons with its second straight 18-0 mark in 2012-13. The Eagles A-Sun regular season crown was their third in the last six years.
• FGCU’s 53 combined wins in men’s and women’s basketball in 2012-13 was the 9th-best total in the nation, while it joined Duke, Louisville and Gonzaga as the only schools with at least 26 wins in both.
• In the fall of 2012, FGCU swept the A-Sun team sports regular season, taking home the men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball crowns. For the second straight year, FGCU was the only Division I school to win its conference regular season and postseason tournament in both men’s and women’s soccer.
• FGCU’s student-athletes achieved a record 3.31 Cumulative Gpa in the Spring of 2013 semester.
