COME HOLY SPIRIT The word “Pentecost” is taken from the Greek and simply means “Fifty”. This title reminds us that fifty days after his resurrection from the dead, Jesus poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit upon his Apostles. Like those first disciples, we are sent out in the Spirit to live the Gospel message in the places where we live and work and play.
WHERE DID IT GO? Pentecost Sunday brings the Easter season to a close. The Paschal candle will be extinguished at the end of Mass and moved to its normal place next to the baptismal font. It is lit at every baptism throughout the year and at every funeral Mass.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION This Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Monsignor Zimmer will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for our parish candidates. After months of preparation they will receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear of the Lord. Please pray that each one of them will remain faithful to the Spirit they receive.
THE WIGGLE OF THE SPIRIT One of the sure signs of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our parish community is the wiggle and movement
of little children. Their squirming about gives praise and worship to God. Their outspoken comments are an angel choir. So parents … relax!

JUNE 9, 2019 CATECHIST THANK YOU
Without our volunteer catechists we wouldn’t be able to provide sacramental preparation classes for First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation. We extend a special word of thanks to the men and women who
volunteered their time and talent to work with the young people of our parish. May the gifts you give to others be returned to you one hundredfold!
A RETIREMENT NOTE OF THANKS Maureen Molloy, a long‐time member of our parish RCIA team, is retiring from active ministry this weekend. Over the years she has nurtured many new Catholics in the faith and inspired them to live the Gospel with faith, commitment and joy. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts. We are now looking for others to follow in her footstep. Interested?
MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART The month of June is traditionally consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Jesus promised this to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque …. I will grant to all those who receive Communion on the First Friday for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under My displeasure, nor without receiving
their Sacraments. Is First Friday part of your spiritual path?
REFERENCE LETTERS All Catholic School Boards require a Pastoral Letter from the parish priest before hiring teacher applicants. Specifically, they want to know if prospective Catholic teachers are atten ding Mass faithfully and are involved in their parish community. Our Catholic schools deserve only the best! Monsignor Zimmer will not provide a reference for anyone who is not registered with St. Clement Parish and coming to church.
NO SUMMER CAMP THIS YEAR The St. Clement Summer Camp for Kids has been an anticipated event for almost ten years. Because our parish hall is out of commission, we made the difficult decision to cancel the camp this year. You have our word that we will return once again next summer. See you then!
ADORATION CHAPEL The St. Clement Adoration Chapel is a blessing which extends far beyond our parish boundaries. It’s a place of encounter with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. We encourage parishioners to drop in for a few moments of prayer
any day and every day between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. If you are willing to give an hour a week to sit before the Lord please call the parish office for available hours.
LAWNS AND GARDENS St. Clement Parish lawns and gardens are the envy of Markland Wood. We pay a monthly fee to have the lawns cut and trimmed. This bill is paid through your weekly donations to the parish. The gardens are cared for by volunteers who wish to remain nameless. We thank them for the love they lavish on our trees, bushes and flowers. Your reward will be great in Heaven!
WEEKEND GREETERS
Parishioners who filled out our recent parish survey were unanimous in their appreciation for the greeting they receive at the doors of the church. We are looking for men, women and students willing to extend this hand of welcome to their fellow parishioners before and after every weekend Mass. The only requirement is an open heart and a big smile. Call the parish office for more information.
