Stewardship Reflections
Jesus offers a hard lesson regarding wealth and possessions in
today’s
Gospel. The rich man whom he encountered could not part with
his
possessions as a condition to becoming a disciple of Jesus.
Would our
response be the same as the rich man? Do we place our trust in
our money
and possessions instead of trusting in God’s generosity? Do we
seek
security in our possessions? Good stewards realize that their
possessions
must not possess them, lest those possessions block their
relationship with
the Lord.
desprenderse

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN
AND VULNERABLE ADULTS Dear Parishioners, Based on the recent
events that have been brought to light throughout the world
concerning the care and protection, dignity and respect for each
individual against any misconduct or inappropriate relationship
between minors, men, and women, the USCCB (United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops) have changed the program for training and
certification for greater protection and awareness of all
individuals. As a result, they are now asking all individuals who
have a ministry or volunteer in a parish of ANY kind to do the
VIRTUS TRAINING program on-line at
https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus. This includes all those who
had previously been certified and are still current in their
training within the last 5 years. You will need to be re-certified
in order to continue to serve within the parish and/or the diocese.
Please do take the training which takes about an hour to complete,
print out your certificate, and bring a copy to the parish office.
If you don't have Internet or need assistance with the training or
printing out your certificate, please contact us or stop by the
office and we will be happy to help you. If you have any questions
regarding this matter, please call or stop by the parish office.
Thanks for your continued care and service to God and the parish;
and your continued awareness and protection for the individuals
within our parish. God Bless!
Fr. Brian Wood

From Most Rev. Robert Coerver, Bishop of Lubbock:
The care of members of the Catholic Church on the South Plains
is the top priority for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lubbock and
for me, the Bishop of Lubbock. Today’s announcement is a message of
action that will help the Church continue to work to nurture an
environment of transparency and accountability which is necessary
especially to rebuild the trust of those who have experienced
abuse. As we continue this work, we must move forward in a spirit
of justice and reparation, while also preserving principles of
mercy and compassion. The Catholic Church in the United States has
worked to provide safe environments, especially over the last 15
years. We will remain vigilant to provide an even safer environment
for every child in our care. We pray for victims and survivors of
abuse of any kind, and we pray especially for those families whose
trust in the Church has been broken. We also pray for the Holy
Spirit to renew the Church as we work to heal these wounds to the
Body of Christ.
PROTEGIENDO A LOS HIJOS DE DIOS
Y ADULTOS VULNERABLES
¡Dios
los bendiga!
Padre Brian Wood
