“Set Camera, Action and ForCam”
“Hide not your talents, they for use were made,
What's a sundial in the shade?” ― Benjamin Franklin
Everyone owns a talent. Some may showcase it to the world and for some it may be hidden.
The ongoing pandemic has given us a chance to explore ourselves, know our talents and
work upon. The Phoenix forum went on a venture to find our peer’s abilities and talent with
an event called “ForCam”.
ForCam was the second event organized by the Forum since its installation. This event was
quite different from the other previously held events as it was neither a technical event nor a
sort of webinar. The main purpose of this event was to make people do what really interests
them. The participants were asked to upload their video on YouTube or Google Drive and
mention the link of the video in the participation form. The video should belong to any of
the four categories set by us, that are cooking, gameplay, acting/vlogging and social walk.
The entries for the event started from 7th of October, 2020 and ended at 14th October.
We received many participations and all the videos were found to be entertaining. Majority
of the participants uploaded a video on gameplay. Well, we really enjoyed watching their
gameplay and fighting strategies. Few of them showed their stunning dance moves. We also
found a nightingale among our fellow participants too. Yes! There was a girl who gave her
entry for singing. It was really difficult for us to choose a winner as all the entries were so
good. Anyhow, a winner was chosen. The winner of ForCam was Yash Likhar from third
semester, C section, IT department and Swaraj Chaudhari from fifth semester, C section,
CSE department was the runner up. Both of them had sent a video on gameplay.
With another event done successfully, we always think and try to come up with such
fascinating events. Thanks to our peers, faculty advisors and the willing participants who
keep us on the edge of doing something great and achievable. We really appreciate
everyone’s efforts for this event. We have many more such fabulous events in store for you
all.

The emergence of the World Wide Web and the internet has changed how we search, browse and
connect. What if I were to ask you to list all the fortune 500 companies. What would you do? Your
first choice would be to open a web browser, type fortune 500 companies and hit enter. The same
thing is applicable when it comes to hiring professionals. Having an online presence in the world
run by the internet becomes a necessity for those looking for jobs, internships and also for
students.
Keeping in mind the importance of portfolio, the phoenix forum organised a competition called
“Portfolio Hunt” on 9 January 2021. All the participants were required to send the link of their
portfolios via a google form. The participants were allowed to use any tech stack for their portfolio
website. The website can have at least three subsections. However, no plagiarism was allowed.
Portfolio websites are one of the best ways of having an online presence along with social media.
The best thing about the portfolio is it showcases a person’s professional life, skills and experience
through a website which is actually helpful for recruiters out there.
“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”- Steve Jobs
The Best Portfolio
(Portfolio websites of the winners)
There were 25 participants in the competition. Some of the websites were quite impressive with
beautiful designs and responsiveness and were chosen as winners. Namrata Sanjay Sherkar from
CSE, 6th semester, section C secured the first position. The second position was bagged by
Anisha Tuptewar from IT, 4th semester, section A.
