The Road Ahead with Funk’s FrontiersmenAN AMERICAN DREAMFor over 40 years, Frontiersmen has been a family-owned, American business, seeking to operate the most outward-focused strategy in the seed industry. We have long been committed to providing our customers with superior seed at competitive prices. The opportunity to work alongside my sons aligns with our commitment to remain an independent seed company, deep-rooted in family values, and built on product performance and strong relationships- many of which span generations.

MOVING FORWARD WITH THE NEXT GENERATIONSince 1979 we have provided personal service to our customers and that will not change. While I will remain President of Frontiersmen, the next generation has arrived and is ready to carry forward the commitment to our customers. My son, Benjamin, is positioned as Chief Executive Officer, and the day-to-day operations will be in very capable hands under the leadership of our newly appointed General Manager, Brian Davis. My son, Ted, remains committed to providing exciting travel opportunities as our Frontiersmen Travel Club Director.

PORTFOLIO DIVERSITY FOR YOUR FARMFrontiersmen is one of a few remaining independent seed companies, and has well-established licensing agreements with a wide range of technology providers. This is a HUGE advantage, as this flexibility enables Frontiersmen to look out for our growers’ best interests in a way larger seed companies cannot match: by offering the right mix for a range of applications.

FRONTIERSMEN IS ON THE GROWWe are always looking for new recruits with integrity and a history of proven success. Frontiersmen invites those with deep-rooted family values, and a keen interest in accessing the best possible seed technology, to contact us at www.frontiersmen.ag. Or reach out to any of your local Frontiersmen to hear their testimonials as to why they are excited to be a part of the Frontiersmen family, and learn how you can grow with us!

  • CORN HYBRIDS“Rejoining the business which got me started in the seed industry has been exciting for me and my family. The fact that Frontiersmen remains a family-owned, independent seed company with connections to all the major technology suppliers, has me energized and more confident than ever. When you do business with us, you are valued as an important member of our company. You can shake hands with our owner and president and know you are not a number; not many seed companies can say that today.”

    Brian Davis, MNFrontiersmen General Manager

Always read and follow herbicide label directions prior to use: Enlist® products contain the Enlist trait that provides crop safety for use of labeled over-the-top applications of glyphosate, glufosinate and 2,4-D herbicides featuring Colex-D® technology when applied according to label directions. Following burndown, the only 2,4-D containing herbicide products that may be used with Enlist® crops are products that feature Colex-D technology and are expressly labeled for use on Enlist crops. 2,4-D products that do not contain Colex-D technology are not authorized for use in conjunction with Enlist products. IRM - Properly managing trait technology is key to preserving it as a long term crop protection tool. Growers who fail to comply with IRM requirements risk losing access to this product. To help preserve the effectiveness of B.t. corn technologies, growers planting B.t. corn technologies are required to follow an IRM Plan. Consult the Corn Product Use Guide for appropriate refuge configuration options. Before opening a bag of seed, be sure to read, understand and accept the stewardship requirements, including applicable refuge requirements for insect resistance management, for the biotechnology traits expressed in the seed as set forth in the Technology Use Agreement and Product Use Guide. By opening and using a bag of seed, you are reaffirming your obligation to comply with the most recent stewardship requirements. • GENERATIONS OF SUCCESS, HARD WORK, AND INNOVATION The Funk family has been in the seed business for over 85 years.Edward J. Funk, along with his sons, pioneered the development of hybrid seed corn. Their success was fostered when Edward J.’s sons were attending Purdue University in the 1930’s. Hybrid seed corn was released to the leading land grant universities of the time. The Funk boys brought home this new technology to their farm, and history began. Frontiersmen was founded in 1979.Dick Funk, along with his wife Elaina, founded what is arguably one of the most successful independent seed brands in the industry. A grandson of Edward J., Dick has over 50 years of hybrid seed experience, and remains president of Frontiersmen- the longest-running Funk family-owned seed company today. Tradition meets technology. The advantage Frontiersmen shares with its customers is their broad reach of long-established connections to an ever-changing industry. Frontiersmen realizes that customers demand the latest technology, newest genetics and a roadmap for cropping success. Ever-vigilant to changing advancements, Frontiersmen selects the best germplasm and traits from the industry leaders: Bayer, BASF, Corteva and Syngenta. Frontiersmen is one of very few remaining independent, family-owned seed companies in the United States.Frontiersmen’s principles remain the same as the day it was founded. The company is dedicated to being a family-focused business, and Dick Funk realizes the importance of his customers and taking care of their needs. Frontiersmen knows the customer’s farm, but just as important- knows their family, too.
