“Just for Fun”?

好きこそものの上手なれ“ s u k i - k o s o - m o n o - n o - j o z u - n a r e ”

Most important for Innovation. But, not the reason Fujitsu joins open source communities.

To Add Enterprise Features and Qualities?

Fujitsu has realized enterprise features and qualities with open source communities. But this doesn’t explain why Fujitsu joins open source communities.

To Decrease Development Costs?Total 27821 people made 514,367 changes (65,907,883 LOC) in Linux Kernel in these 10 years.

Collaboration in the open source community would be cost effective.

productivity: 200 LOC / person-month Changing the kernel outside the community might be much productive?

Not a reason why Fujitsu joins open source community, anyway.

Fujitsu’s decision

What we provide are reliable computing platformsthat ensure customers’ IT investment for a long time.

• Not just one-shot software based on Open Source.

Open Source Ecosystem is the most important.

Reducing TCO by 35 billion yen and further garnering its expertise in large-scale systems migration to the cloud

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, February 18, 2015 Fujitsu today announced that it will migrate all internal systems to a new cloud platform,

underlining the benefits of cloud computing as a more efficient, flexible and cost-effective solution even for the largest global companies. It

will consist of approximately 640 large-scale and complex systems across some 13,000 servers globally that encompass a mixture of legacy

and cutting-edge systems. The transition will proceed in stages starting in February 2015 and is scheduled to be completed withinfive years with an expected reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO) of 35 billion yen.
