What is FTTP

• FTTP – Fiber to the Premises is a general term for the replacement of the PSTN’s copper lines with some form of fiber optic cable

• This is usually single mode fiber

FIOS

• An example of FTTP is the Verizon FIOS system

• This system is commonly deployed to residences to allow Verizon to sell three services over a single connection

• These being– Voice– TV– Internet Access

FIOS

• There is no reason Verizon could not offer the same thing to a business by connecting the circuit to a private network, rather than the Internet
