Our 50 programs reach more than 30,000 people a year and runthe gamut from adoption to home health care, from youth residences to AmeriCorps, from Head Start to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our 450 employees and 350 volunteers work with all segments of the community in all geographic corners of Westchester.

Children, teens, adults, families, older adults, Latino immigrants, veterans and families affected by HIV/AIDS all benefit from FSW’s programs.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our mission and our programs.

OUR MISSION

Page 3: FSW Annual Report 2013 2014

The 2013-2014 Fiscal Year was a very special time for FSW as it offered an opportunity for us toboth celebrate our past as well as to envision our future. We marked our 60th anniversary of providing mental health and social services in Westchester County at our Diamond Anniversary

Gala in April by honoring our founders, our past Board presidents and former CEO’s. We used this opportunity to share the remarkable history of FSW with all those in attendance and would now like totrace that 60 year journey for those who read this Annual Report. In these pages we have provided a timeline of the milestones that took us from 1954, when we were an agency with just one social worker,to our present size and scope, offering over 50 different programs to individuals and families at everystage of the life cycle with a staff of 450 social workers, psychologists, early childhood educators, homehealth aides, and administrators. It is a remarkable accounting of the agency’s growth over time, both anticipating the needs of Westchester County residents as well as responding to unexpected events thatrequired our attention.

Although we did take the opportunity to reflect on our past in 2013-2014, this certainly did not prevent usfrom making great strides into the future as well. Of utmost importance was the progress we made towardopening The Lanza Family Center for All Ages, our new intergenerational facility in White Plains. Havingreached our goal of raising $1 million to match Patricia Lanza’s challenge grant, we were able to moveforward with purchasing the property at 106 North Broadway and developing plans to renovate the buildingto best serve the older adults, young children and teens, who will benefit from the many programs thatwill be housed there. We were awarded grants that will enable us to continue offering our HeadStart/Early Head Start program through 2019, to engage in an anti-violence effort (Project SNUG) in Mt.Vernon, and to provide peer-to-peer counseling in our Veterans Outreach and Support Program. Theseare just a few of the many efforts that will be the focus of our attention as we move into our seventh decadeof serving Westchester County residents in need.

As President and CEO of FSW, I am both proud of our past achievements and excited about the future.Thank you for your support, which ensures that we are able to continue providing high-quality mentalhealth and social services to meet the needs of our community. I look forward to sharing news of our accomplishments in the years to come.

With much gratitude.

Susan B. Wayne
