In recent years, each industrial has got a very fast development, and the demand for electrical

power is got bigger and bigger. With the pressure of global energy sources crisis and environment

pollution, more and more high requirements are to the automatic control of firepower unit. At present,

the automation system of the power plant has been developing from the unit level, power generator

unit control level to system level and integration level. The electric power industry not only requires

realizing the production automation of the power plant, but to realize the integration of automation

control and management for the full production process. The total solution of SUPCON includes the

As for the power units, boiler, steam turbine and generator are the three units, and their process

control has the following two characteristics:

For the generating capacity of the firepower plant is controlled by the network, and the electrical

energy can not be stored, when the load changing, the generator unit are requested to real time

responding the command from the network , and immediately participate in the load regulation

(generating capacity peak value) and frequency regulation (power supplying frequency).

For the firepower unit, any one input variable (e.g. the changing of pulverized coal) of the main

equipments will not only have influence on the changing of other output variables of the body

equipment (this is called coupling in control theory), and will also have influence on the changing of

output variables of other relative main equipments e.g. steam turbine, generator and other auxiliary

equipments. That is to say, when considering the boiler control, the control of steam turbine and

generator shall be considered synchronously, and vice versa. This makes the control of the full

generator units more complicated.

1 DAS Data Acquisition System

The function of DAS is to directly acquire data from the process objects through the I/O modules,

and can also acquire and deal with the signals which are relative with the units from the other

subsystems e.g. MCS, SCS and etc. The monitoring and operation of the process can be executed

on the operator station. The functions of DAS mainly include:

Record and print for shift form, on-duty form, daily form, monthly form and alarm form

Analog menu displaying, real-time data displaying, trending curve displaying

History data archiving, history trending recording, and event sequence recording (SOE)

Operation state monitoring and fault diagnosis for hardware

2 MCS Modulate Control System

The control functions of MCS mainly include:

3 SCS Sequence Control System

The control functions of SCS mainly include:

Forced draft fan, induced draft fan, air preheater automatically start/stop sequence

control and interlock protection

Feed-water pump automatically start/stop sequence control

Condensation water pump automatically start/stop sequence control

Circulating pump automatically start/stop sequence control

Water jetting pump automatically start/stop sequence control

4 FSSS Furnace Safeguard Supervisory System

The functions of FSSS mainly include:

Clean control before ignition and after furnace shutdown

Fuel oil leakage testing

Flame detection function

Boiler ignition and ignitors control

Pulverized coal burner control

Main fuel trip (MFT)

5 ETS Emergency Trip System

When something emergency has happened in the steam turbine, the ETS system will automatically

emergency trip to make it shutdown, and to guarantee the safety of personnel.

The condition for ETS trip: (once one of the following situations happens, and the trip command will

be sent out.)

Large libration of steam turbine bearing brass

Large axial displacement

Large differential expansion

High thrust bearing temperature

High bearing oil back temperature

Low lubrication pressure

Low condenser vacuum

High extraction pressure

Steam turbine overspeed

MFT

Generator-transformer unit protection

Manual emergency shutdown

6 DEH Digital Electrical Hydraulic

The basic control function of DEH system is to control the rotate speed and load of steam turbine.

The low pressure turbine oil DEH shall be adopted to small-scale steam turbine to realize pure

electric adjusting control. It can operate safely and economically under the following operation

modes: boiler follow, steam turbine follow, coordinated control, variable press (sliding press)

operation, constant pressure operation, manual mode. The main control functions of DEH system

include:

Speed-up control

Rotate speed and load control

Thermal stress calculating and sequence control for start and stop

Overspeed limitation and protection

Remote control latched, open the door of main steam, emergency shutoff

All kinds of testing function

7 ECS Electricity Control System

ECS is one part of DCS system, the main supervision and control scope includes: generator,

transformer, high/low voltage power supply system, UPS, DC system, standby power supply and

auxiliary systems related to the generator set.

Control systems for auxiliary equipments in the power plant mainly include:
