Winter has arrived with a thud. I hope this isn’t a sign of what the next few months will be. Time to snuggle up under the blankets with your honey, or the next best thing your dog. Have seen pictures on Facebook of guys out in some horrendous weather, but seems like there were some that were rewarded with big muskies. The 2016 sea- son has come to an end and I hope you had a good one. If you got your per- sonal best, congratulations! Now it’s time to repair and clean the rods, sharp- en he hooks and plan for 2017. With the shows coming up you get your fill of all the latest and greatest baits, technology, knowledge and plan your 2017 season. FRV will start the season off with Tony Grant and Gregg Thomas on Wednesday, January 4 at Chandlers Chop House. We will have booths at both the Chicago Muskie Show and the Schaumburg Show. Stop by and say ”Hi,” renew your membership or sign up for or Spring Tournament on the Fox Chain to get an early start time. On January 21, we are taking the boys of One Hope United for a half day of ice fishing on Deep Lake in Lake Villa, if you can help us out contact Mike Mark at [email protected]. On February 4 the club will be attending a Chicago Wolves/Rockford Ice Hogs (Hawks Affil- iate) game at the All State Arena. We have 30 tickets available for sale at $25 each. They will be available at the January meeting or by contacting Rich Gallagher at [email protected]. Our Annual Banquet is on Saturday, March 11 th at Chandlers Chop House. Registration forms will be going out around January 1. We currently have over $18,000 in prizes with more to come. With 2016 now past us, and I must say it’s been a hell of year, it’s time to look ahead. I hope you will make a new year’s resolution to attend more meetings and participate in more club outings and events. We are only as strong as our membership participation. Recruit a friend or fellow fisherman to attend and join the Chapter. The membership fees are more than reasonable at $35 a year. I will be having some plumbing repaired on my heart on December 28 th and be out of commission for a month or so. Rich Gallagher and Dan Koniewicz will be running the show in my absence. So keep me in your pray- ers. I wish you all a Health and Happy New Year! One last note, please try to sell your raffle tickets. There was an error in the letter that went out. For me 2016 was a great year and I look forward to 2017 and beyond. Once through the holiday season, things start right back up again for me with boat shows, seminars and trade shows. I will try and keep my webpage up to date with shows and seminars
at: http://www.structure-fishing.com/Seminars.html What I can tell you is here is my 2017 so-nar seminar & show schedule:
Chicago Boat, RV, & Strictly Sail Show – McCormick Place, Chicago, IL - January 11th-15th - Alumacraft booth. - Cabela’s Powersports Open House – Hoffman Estates – January 21th-22nd. - Fox Valley Area Anglers – Gander Mountain, Geneva, IL – Seminar – January 24th, 7:00PM. - Chicagoland Fishing Travel & Outdoor Expo – Schaumburg, IL – January 26th-29th – Cabela’s/Alumacraft booth - Lowrance University at Cabela’s – Lowrance Basic Class – Cabela’s Hoffman Estates, IL - February 4th, 2017 – 9:30 AM. - Lowrance University at Cabela’s – Lowrance Advanced Class – Cabela’s Hoffman Es-tates, IL - February 18th, 2017 – 9:30AM. So there are many new things coming our way from Lowrance, the first is the addition if Elite-9 Ti and Elite-12 Ti units which are now ship-ping. The Elite Ti family is to put it simply, “the biggest bang for your buck on the market” today, without a doubt. For those of you looking for a larger touch screen without Ethernet capabilities, this is the unit. Same interface as the Gen 3, same processor and such for less money. For more information, go to: http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/elite-ti/ In addition, Lowrance will be releasing the Carbon family of products in the February/March window. These will be the most advanced units on the market that offer dual processors, the best touch screens I have seen thus far and other features that are now possible with the increased processing ability. More information on those can be found at: http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/HDS-Carbon/
Good fishing, Mark O'Neill www.Structure-Fishing.com
Come on out and join us on February 8th when our guest speaker will be Luke Ronnestrand who owns and operates Luke Ronnestrand’s Musky Guide Service. Luke is a licensed Captain who’s been chasing and catching HUGE Muskies all over MN! Luke guides on Mille Lacs and is based out on Vermillion Dam Lodge on beautiful Lake Vermillion. During the off season you can find Luke working at Thorne Broth-ers. Luke is an outstanding fisherman whose talents and knowledge rival and in many ways surpass those of his peers. A certifiable big fish junkie, Luke is without a doubt your best chance at a Minnesota monster. He will improve your game and is an absolute delight to share the boat with. There’s a reason he’s difficult to book with. It’s because he’s so good at what he does and his repeat clientele is incredibly high. As another highly reputable guide said about Luke, he’s “The best of the best.” Don’t miss this awesome meeting as Luke covers tactics and strategies for HUGE muskies in Northern MN lakes! Grab a note-pad and a friend and we will see you on February 8th!
