January 9th club meeting featuring Ste- ve Worrall For those members that were able to attend the Novem- ber meeting, you were not disappointed in the presenta- tion given by Sean Birmingham. Sean shared those little things that help him get those few extra Muskies in the boat every year. Thank you Sean for your sharing of your knowledge. Also, I just wanted to recognize that Sean joined the FRV membership ranks that night. Welcome aboard. A December newsletter is always a good time to reflect on the some of the accomplishments of an organi- zation. During the past couple of months FRV was in- volved with two stocking events. The first on October 14 th when FRV pur- chased 440 muskies that were stocked into our very own Channel Lake up on the Chain. The second was FRV supporting the Chicagoland Chapter with a donation of $1,000 that added to their stocking of Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. This donation allowed them to stock an extra 60 fish this year. Over all the stocking of Lake Geneva was approximately 360 fish. These two events will help us all in catching muskies close to home in the near fu- ture. Remember that December is a time of giving back. And keeping with that theme, FRV is asking that you please come to the December meeting is a non-perishable food donation that will be given to the Elgin Battered Wom- en Shelter. The group really counts on our donation during the Holiday sea- son. Thank you Rich Gallagher for making this happen every year. If you were at the November meeting your heard me talk about changing the deliv- ery of the newsletter from a printed format to an emailed document. We will be making this change with the February 2019 newsletter. But, if you still want a hard copy, mailed document we will still send it to you. It is up to you to let us know. A signup sheet for a mailed newsletter will be available at both the December and January meetings. You are new asking why we are doing this. By going to a emailed document we will save about $6,000 a year. That is a whole bunch of baby muskies. During the next month FRV will be finalizing our calendar and programs for 2019. We have plans to ex- pand our youth events locally, increasing / enhancing the fishing contests, partnering with key businesses that support FRV, rolling out an interesting line up of speakers and fun-filled outings. December is the time of year that we reset our Board of Directors. If you are interested in donating some of your time and helping FRV progress in its agenda, please contact me or see me at the next meeting. Lastly to all members have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Looking forward to seeing you at the winter shows! Dan Koniewicz December Issue FRV NEWS

FRV INCENTIVE PROGRAM P A G E 3
W W W . F R V M U S K I E . C O M
Our club thrives on our common interest in musky fishing and our charitable efforts. While our hope is that every-
one participates and supports the club because of the intrinsic value it provides, the Board of Directors has decided
to experiment with two (2) incentive programs to encourage more participation both online and at our events/
meetings. The details of these programs are detailed below. Please reach out if there are questions or suggestions.
The programs will run until it appears they no longer provide impact into the level of participation and we reserve
the right to alter the program as necessary to make it successful.
FRV Online Participation Incentive (monthly) Goal: to increase participation of membership between meetings via our website/forum and to increase attendance at
meetings
Prize: 3-5 baits awarded via raffle at our monthly meetings (subject to change pending the level of participation during a
given month)
Forum participation
1 ticket per 3 “quality” posts. “Quality” will be at the discretion of the Website Director and generally means the post
constructively contributes to the conversation (something more than “Nice fish” on a fishing report, lively discussion/
debate is fine, but tickets will not be awarded for negativity…the point is for engaging in civil and constructive dialog)
3 tickets per fishing report posted, 5 if pictures are included, 8 if video is included. 10 tickets per article that is written
and posted to the website. Write a summary of an outing hosted by FRV , a fishing related story, anything you think peo-
ple would be interested to read that’s applicable to the club and our membership.. Articles should be edited within rea-
son and ready to post, though FRV reserves the right to make minor adjustments to spelling/grammar if necessary
(significant changes will be discussed with the author before posting). Articles will be posted at the discretion of the
Website Director. Please contact the Website Director to confirm your article topic would be considered for the website
and does not duplicate something already being drafted. Please note that you can also post comments to any article/
post on the site (including this one). These will be considered participation and will be awarded tickets similarly to what is
outlined above. Comments outside of the forum currently require an admin approval before they are shown on the web-
site. Please be patient as we review and complete the approval process. Tickets earned will be awarded at the next club
meeting and will be honored only at that meeting. You must be present to win. Anything earned during our off months of
June, July and August will be awarded in September. Please note: this is being announced 8/23/18 and we will retroac-
tively award tickets to anyone with eligible posts 6/1/18 or later. Drawing for participation will be separate from the nor-
mal meeting raffles.
Board members are not eligible to participate.
FRV Volunteering Incentive Program (yearly) FRV event participation;
Tickets will be awarded for actively participating at FRV events.
Meetings – help at the door, selling raffle tickets, assisting Frank at Membership, Hugh at Merch, welcoming new members and
introducing them to people, etc.
Banquet – help set up, help tear down, assist with handing out packets, etc.
Volunteer – show up at any volunteering opportunity and participate, work the booth at a show, help setup/tear down at a
show, guide at a One Hope event, etc.
Entries to the drawing will be awarded based on the participation and relative effort involved. Ensure the board member helping
coordinate the event you’re at reports to the Website Director that you participated in order to ensure your entry to the draw-
ing. Drawing will occur at the Annual Awards and Fundraising Banquet (typically held in March). You do NOT have to be pre-
sent to win this drawing. Board members are not eligible to participate.

THE FOX RIVER VALLEY CHAPTER PROUDLY PRESENTS
DAN KONIEWICZ WENDNESDAY DECEMBER 12
TH , 2018
AT THE SCHAUMBURG GOLF CLUB
Dan Koniewicz has been musky fishing for over 30 years! Not only is he our current Presi-dent at the FRV Chapter, but he is one of the original FRV members when the FRV club was founded 37 years ago! Through the years, Dan has held virtually every position in our chapter including being a past President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer! Dan has donated much of his free time to this club over the past 37 years as a member! Dan began registering his fish back in 1984 and to date has over 400 muskies registered with MI in the lunge log with 8 fish over 50”! His longest musky is 53” and to say Dan knows a thing or two about catching mus-kies would be an understatement! Dan is going to be talking about fishing in Canada for big muskies, a topic that is near and dear to his heart. He is a great presenter, who has filled in at our meetings when speakers have not shown and he has some great PowerPoint presenta-tions to share with us as well as his knowledge of catching muskies throughout the calendar year! Grab a friend and don’t miss this great year end meeting! We are also conducting our canned food drive for the Elgin Women’s Crisis Center. Bring some canned goods or other non-perishable items to donate to the shelter and we will waive your $5.00 admission fee! Admission is $5.00/person at the door. Our meeting begins at 7:00PM at The Schaumburg Golf Club which is located at 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg, IL.
All meetings are open to the public. Guests are always welcome.
DECEMBER CANNED FOOD DRIVE
W W W . F R V M U S K I E . C O M
P A G E 5
Donations to the Elgin Women’s Shelter Each year at the December club meeting, we run a canned food drive for the Elgin Women’s Shelter. If you come to the December 12th meeting with canned goods or other non-perishable items to donate to the Elgin Women’s Shelter, we will waive the $5.00 ad-mission fee for you! Each year, FRV members and friends donate a HUGE amount of canned goods and other items to the shelter at our December meeting! We drop off these goods to the shelter to
help the women and children who reside at this facility! Please remember to bring your canned goods to the December 12th club meeting for this wonderful cause to those less fortunate. Many of the women residing at this facility have been abused and many of them are single mothers working hard to get their lives back on track. Won’t you please help? Thanks in advance for your kindness during this Holiday Season!
