Pink Floyd ExperienceMain Street Armory | Feb. 20 The San Diego-based tribute band, Pink Floyd Experience, is Zachary Throne on vocals/gui-tar, Gus Beaudoin on bass, Jesse Molloy on saxophone, John Cox on keys, and Bob Sale on drums. The tribute show is known as be-ing a huge theatrical experience with a “mind-blowing” light & video show and full quadraphonic sound.

Ron WhiteAuditorium Theatre | Feb. 21 Ron White’s comic routines found great exposure while per-forming with “The Blue Collar Comedy Tour,” featuring such top comedians as Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy. His career was furthered by the success of his CD, Drunk in Public and his DVD, They Call Me Tater Salad. He’s appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and had his own half-hour stand-up special for Comedy Central Presents. Known for his cigar smoking and scotch drinking comedic antics, Ron has achieved two Grammy nominations, a Gold Record, and a book that appeared on the New York Times’ Best Seller
List. His new stand-up show is titled, “A Little Unprofessional.”
Whitey Morgan & The 78’sAbilene Bar & Lounge | Feb. 21 Whitey Morgan and The 78’s hails from Flint MI. They’re a honky-tonk group that plays classic country. Little River Band Nola’s | Feb. 22 Australian rockers, Little River Band, are a supergroup made up of some of that nation’s top talent. Their hit, “Cool Change,” has been ranked as one of the top 30 Australian songs of all time and the group was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Hall of Fame in 2004. Studio albums include the classic LPs of Diamantina Cocktail, Sleeper Catcher, First Under the Wire and Time Exposure. The most recent release is Cuts Like a Diamond...Rochester’s own Tommy Brunett Band opens.

Spiritual Rez Club @ Water St. | Feb. 22 Sprung from the basements of Berklee College of Music in early 2003, Spiritual Rez is known for its unique sound and high-energy live performances. Calling themselves “the craziest Reggae dance party you’ll ever be part of,” the group writes and tours constantly. CDs include Rising In The East and their new one, Apocalypse Whenever with its hit single, “Bring it On.”
Just ImagineNazareth Arts Center | Feb. 23 Spoken narrative, interwoven with John Lennon songs and Beatles favorites are at the heart of this multi-media show as Tim Piper brings his life’s work to the stage with Just Imagine – a tribute show to John Lennon’s life and music. Backed by a live band,
Piper takes the audience through an imagined final performance with Lennon, discussing the in-spiration for many of his songs and his personal relationships.
The RevelersHarmony House | Feb. 23 The Revelers are a Lafayette, LA-based band comprised of founding members of The Red Stick Ramblers and The Pine Leaf Boys. This new project combines Cajun, country, blues and zydeco into a powerful roots sound that’s straight from southwest Louisi-ana, promising to get audiences up and moving. MagpieRoch. Christian Reformed Church | Feb. 23 Greg Artzner and Terry Le-onino who form the duo Magpie, are accomplished vocalists who accompany themselves on guitar, harmonica, mandolin and dul-cimer. Their styles range from jazz, blues, swing and ragtime to ballads and poignant songs of social comment. These master ar tists, who have performed from the Smithsonian Institution to the Wolf Trap Institute, offer fun, enlightening, and inspiring concerts suitable for all interests and ages.
Mandolin Orangew/Well Worn BootAbilene Bar & Lounge | Feb. 23 North Carolina’s Mandolin Orange play lyric and harmony focused tunes on acoustic and
electric guitars, fiddle and man-dolin. Their sound features a mix of bluegrass and rock and roll, with old school country thrown in for good measure...Buffalo’s Well Worn Boot is a four-piece rock and roll act that employs Wild-West themed narratives of American folklore in its show.

Ballake Sissoko and Vincent SegalKilbourn Hall| Feb. 26 Ballake Sissoko performs on the kora, a 21-string bridge-harp traditionally used in West Africa. Ballake has worked with Taj Ma-hal, Tourmani Diabate, his father, Djelimady Sissoko and others. The 2009 album, Chamber Music as well as his latest, At Peace are collaborations with the French classical cellist, Vincent Segal, who shares the stage at this show. Segal is known for his col-laborative and out of the ordinary projects with artists as varied as Steve Nieve, Elvis Costello, the reggae band Tryo, and Sting (on his album Winter’s Night).

The Vlatkovich TryyoBop Shop Records | Mar. 4 Trombonist Michael Vlatkovich joins electric cellist Jonathan Golove and Damon Short on drums to form The Vlatkovich Tryyo. The three perform music that is described as exceptionally creative and easily accessible, loved by all jazz fans. The 2012 release by this Southern Califor-nia-based act is Pershing Woman.
DeftonesMain St. Armory | Mar. 4 The Deftones are “a hyper-dynamic musical experience” known for their wicked rhythms, sinister riffs, speaking-in-tongues vocals and rabid lyrics. The
Sacramento, CA group has made significant strides since their ‘95 Maverick Records debut, Adrena-line, which garnered such singles as “Bored” and “7 Words.” Their follow-up, Around the Fur, and tracks like “My Own Summer (Shove It)” and “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” brought the band even more recognition, as did the critically-acclaimed, plati-num White Pony with its single, “Change (In the House of Flies).” Next came a Grammy-winning self-titled fourth release followed by Saturday Night Wrist and Diamond Eyes. Their cover of “Wipe Out” was featured in the 2007 film Surf’s Up; and their latest is Today.
The Book of MormonAuditorium Theatre | Mar. 5 – 10 Winner of nine Tony Awards, The Book of Mormon took Broadway by storm in 2011; and the soundtrack also won a Gram-my Award that year – making the show one of the biggest hits of our current generation of musicals. The story follows two young missionaries who are sent to a remote village in Uganda as they try to share their beliefs with the locals. Trey Parker (South Park) and Matt Stone (Avenue Q) joined forces to create this one, dubbed

Film Dryden Theatre Reopens The Dryden Theatre at George Eastman House, 900 East Avenue, reopens on Saturday, March 2nd after a two month closure to al-low for extensive renovations and enhancements to both the audito-rium and the projection booth. Visitors will find new seats,

I wasn’t getting any rolesonstage.Iwasdoingallthisstuffoffstage,workingverylonghours.Iremembercallingtheprincipalandmoaning,sayingI’mnotsureIcandealwiththis.Andontheother end of the line, he said,“Soldieron,Jeremy,soldieron.”

So yeah, this new one,like itspredecessors, alsobased
on a novel, may sound similar,but it comes from and goes offinto many other directions. It’scertainly the most properly su-pernaturalofthebunch.Andit’smuchclassier. When we meet 17-year-oldSouth Carolinian Ethan (AldenEhrenreich), we find out rightawaythathe’savoraciousreader(Vonnegut’shis current choice),is kind of a loner, and is beingbroughtupbyhiswidowerdad. He’s also having some prettyweirddreamsaboutagirlwhosefacehecan’tquitesee. Holdon,there’sanewgirlintown and at school, 15-year-oldorphan Lena (Alice Englert),who’s come to live with herwealthy, fashion conscious, andvery mysterious Uncle Macon(Jeremy Irons)at thecreepyoldRavenwoodplace.She,too,lovesto read (Bukowski’s her presentfave). Could she be the “girl of hisdreams?” There’s nothing likeloveatfirstsightbetweenthem.He shows some interest, partlybecause she has an outspokenattitude, but likely because ev-

After a classroomdisplayofCarrie-likeabilitiesbyher, which she never acknowl-edges,his fascination increases.Heevenfollowsherhome,onlytobetoldtogoawaybecause“myuncledoesn’tlikepeoplearoundthehouse.” Actually,nooneintheRaven-wood family likes people verymuch, at least not “normal”people likeEthan,andeveryoneelse in town.TheappearanceofUncleMaconallowsIronstostartchewingthesceneryearly.He’sadashingfigureinwhite,deliveringhislinesinahoney-likevoice,everreadytoputaspell–orfoistvi-sions–uponanunwaryvisitor. TherearelotsofspellscastonlotsofpeopleinthislittleSouth-erntown.Andwhilethestoryismostlyabouttheslowlyformingattraction between Ethan andLena, the parade of charactersaround them gives the film anundeniablerichness.ViolaDavisplaysAmma, local librarianandlongtimefriendofEthan’sfamily(separatecharactersinthebook),awomanwithplentyofherownsecrets. Watch out for EmmyRossum(currentlyinShowtime’sShameless)asRidley,aslinkysor-ceresswholikestohaveherwaywithunsuspectingmen.But thefilm’sbestscene-stealinggoestotheever-surprisingEmmaThomp-son,takingontworoles:thebible-thumpingMrs.Lincoln,andthefearsomeandextremelypowerfulSarafine.Thompsonmanages tomakeherpartsbothfrighteningandover-the-tophilarious. The plot ends up gravitatingtowardthealwayspopularbattlebetween the light and the dark,aswellastheoldShakespearianchestnutofforbiddenlove,inthiscasebetweenaCaster(somethingthatLenawillsoonbecome)andamortal.Betweenplentifuldosesof creepiness, visual effects, a(literally)swirlingsequenceaboutfamilydynamics,andaquickdipintomelodrama,thisisafilmthatwillpleasetheyoungviewersit’saimed at, and still keep olderaudiences who couldn’t handletheridiculousnessoftheTwilight serieshappilyengaged.
