Bingen am Rhein is known as the gateway to the “Upper Middle Rhine Valley“, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its breathtakingly beautiful landscapes and count-less castles and palaces, the valley is the epitome of a romantic natural setting. Fully reconstructed, Klopp Castle stands majestically atop the Kloppberg in the heart of the city. Bingen’s most famous landmark, however, is the so-called “Mouse Tower”. Set on a small river islet, this former toll station is over a thousand years old.

Der Landkreis Limburg-Weilburg wird vom blauen Band der Lahn einmal komplett durchquert. Hier kommen Radfahrer auf dem 4**** Lahntalradweg genauso auf ihre Kosten wie Wanderer auf dem zertifizierten Lahnwanderweg und Paddler auf dem Fluss. Unterwegs gibt es viel Kultur zu entdecken: Den Limburger Dom, die Burg Runkel, die Weilburger Schlossanlage, das Lahn-Marmor-Museum und viele pittoreske Fachwerk- ensembles.
The District of Limburg-Weilburg is home to the blue waters of the River Lahn. Cyclists are urged to explore the four-star Lahn Valley Cycling Path, while hikers have the cer-tified Lahn Hiking Trail available to them. The gently flowing river is of course highly popular with canoeists and kayakers. There’s also a great deal of culture to discover, including the renowned Limburg Cathedral, Runkel Castle, Weilburg Palace, the Lahn Marble Museum and the many picturesque timber-frame buildings.

The Odenwald is a scenic low mountain landscape southeast of Frankfurt. The Taunus is the only low mountain range in Germany to be set alongside a European metropolis. Viele längere und kürzere Trail-runden führen durch die Höhen und Tiefen des Waldgebirges. Nicht nur ein legendäres Wirtshaus lädt unterwegs zur kulinarischen Reise durch die Region ein. Und wer es lieber relaxt mag: entspannen und erholen kann man am besten in den Thermen von Bad Soden - Salmünster und Bad Orb.
It should be no surprise to anyone that there’s a fairy-tale forest to be found behind the cities of Hanau and Steinau, for it was here that the famous Brothers Grimm spent their fantasy-filled childhoods.
