Theme: Christians depend on God, not on themselves. This is our security. It is also the source of surprises. To
depend entirely on our own resources means the uncertain achievement of a predictable goal. To travel with God means
a successful journey with a surprise ending.

Advent Banners Week 4: The hammer reminds us of Joseph, a carpenter, the foster father of Jesus, who took loving
care of Jesus, the Savior. The lily reminds us of Mary, the Blessed Virgin, who was chosen to be the mother of God
and blessed with much goodness. She was one who believed in God’s promise to send a Savior. The symbol of Jesus,
the sun, tells us that Jesus is the light of the world, the Son of God. Fourth Candle—(purple) - THE ANGEL CANDLE or THE CANDLE OF LOVE—The angels announced the good news of a
Savior. God sent his only Son to earth to save us, because he loves us! (john 3:165-17) Children helping Children is an Advent Project For anyone who has an Advent Wreath at home, consider reading
this prayer when lighting your candle: This is the last week of Advent and now is a good time to make a plan to show your child how they can care about oth-
ers.
