Key Concepts

Students will, through creating their own sculpture, learn about the concepts and principles behind sculpture created with found objects.

Then they will learn about the process of planning for artworks by sketching found objects in a sculptural design and exploring how it could actually be assembled.

The students will gain an understanding of found object sculpture and research, write about, and discuss artists that produce found object art.

The students will understand the use of materials and what they can symbolize in found object sculpture.

along with its new meaning.

Instead of painting on canvas or flat boards she sliced the ends of 2 x 4’s and 2 x 6’s and used the wooden wafers like mosaic tiles. She sliced the ends of the lumber like you would slice salami to reveal the grain and then glued the “salami” on to a backing board.
