The toddler was playing with the anklet after her grandmother removed it before heading for bath. “When the grandmother came out, the hook of the anklet was stuck in the right eye,” said ophthalmic Surgeon Dr P Suresh, who performed the procedure on the baby along with Dr Girija Suresh. The procedure was carried out under general anaesthesia. “The hook of the anklet had gone into the eyelid but fortunately it was only grazing the eyeball and not lodged into it,” explained Suresh, adding that the wound was not sutured and left for self-healing. “The baby could have lost her eyesight. Parent should be extremely careful about what they keep near their babies,” he added. http://epaperbeta.timesofindia.com/Article.aspx?eid=31821&articlexml=DOCS-REMOVE- ANKLET-STUCK-IN-GHATKOPAR-BABYS-EYE-29102014007023
