The hospital also has state of the art 4th generation hybrid Cath lab system. With a view to conserve energy, a new department was created under the leadership of the COO and headed by an expert energy manager with his team to implement/oversee the conservation initiatives throughout the network and the progress is reviewed each month with all the facility heads across the nation.

Energy Consumption
Energy Conservation Measures Taken
As per energy department ( Corporate ) recommendations , Unit management has
decided on conducting an in-house energy audit and few of the observed points with
pathology, radiology, dental clinic including, evaluation of functions of heart by ECG
& TMT, physiotherapy & Tele medicines. The Railway Hospital - Rajkot is also
equipped with non allopathic Deptt. like Ayurvedic & Homeopathic. The Railway
Hospital – Rajkot caters to approx. 6960 employees excluding their family members.

The present built up area of Railway Hospital is 4877 sq. meters having Air
conditioned area of 560.5 Sq. mtrs. It has got one major & one minor OT equipped
with all quality facilities. To make use of the OT facilities honorary surgeons from all
specialties are on the panel & visit regularly. The Hospital has causality wards, OPD
& Indoor sections to meet any emergency round the clock 24/7 and have dedicated
total staff of 118.
Rajkot Hospital is fed by 11 KV HT supply availed from state electricity board having
a contract demand of 450 KVA. All wards are equipped with emergency lights though
invertors and have a 250 KVA stand by DG set with AMF panel to cater to 24x7 un
interrupted power supply to give maximum comfort to the ailing patients, and to
doctors & staff engaged in treating them.
Energy Consumption
The Railway Hospital have a connected load of 258.5 KW being catered at 11 KV
from the State Electricity Board, The Specific Electrical energy consumption has
come down from 10.48 to 7.33 KWH/Sq. mtr in 2013-14. Thus there was
remarkable reduction in Specific electrical energy consumption by 30.06 % in 2013-
14 as compared to 2012-13. There was reduction in total energy consumption by
15391 KWH during the 2013-14 as compared to the consumption during 2012-13
which also show a reduction of 30.10%.

Unit Profile
The Divisional Railway Hospital of Ambala
Division, in Ambala district of Haryana was
established during the year 1997 to provide
medical facilities to the Railway employees.
Hospital has 150 beds and caters to 16510
employees and their families. There is
provision of ICU, Operation theatre, post-
operative ward, X-ray and ultrasonography
rooms, which require 24 hours lighting & Air
conditioning.
The building has a total built up area of 5201.06 square meters with an air
conditioned area of 2283.36 square meters. The total Electrical connected load of
the building is 241.34 KW and the power supply is provided through 1x500 KVA
Transformer installed at 11/0.415 KV Sub-station. 125 KVA & 70 KVA Diesel
Generating sets have been installed at Hospital for backup power supply.
Divisional Railway Hospital, Ambala is providing services in OPD, indoor admission
facility for patients, Emergencies, Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Pathology,
Dental unit and Physiotherapy unit.
