2017-18 Workshops recitvt.qc.ca/workshops 3 Formative Assessment: Socrative (BYOD) 2 hours Socrative is a cloud-based student response system. It allows teachers to create simple quizzes that students can take quickly on laptops – or, more often, via classroom tablet computers or their own smartphones. Quizzes can be true/false, multiple choice, graded short answer or allow open-ended short responses. Activities can either be teacher- paced or student-paced. Teachers can access detailed classroom and student data on their own devices. Socrative quizzes can also be shared with other teachers. In this workshop, we will: • Start with a quiz (No cheating!) • Create our free Socrative teacher account • Create our own quiz • Challenge our workshop colleagues by quizzing them! • Have a “Space Race” • Share our quiz with another teacher

Kahoot!isafreegame-basedlearningplatformthatmakesitfuntolearn–anysubject,inanylanguage,onanydevice,forallages!AKahootisacollectionofquestionsonspecifictopics.Createdbyteachersandstudentsalike,theyareaskedinreal-time,toanunlimitednumberof“players”,creatingasocial,funandgame-likelearningenvironment.Playersanswerthequestionsontheirdevice(PC,laptop,mobile)andresultsareprojectedasthegameplayson.
