The Year 9/Form 3 (1st Year) (CEFR Level A1) annual examination paper for German as a Foreign Language is a graded paper. The annual examination tests the 4 skills - Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The format of the examination is explained in Table 1. Items tested for each skill are graded to cover various abilities and learning outcomes.

Examination paper format
1. SPRECHEN -- SPEAKING (in groups of max 6 students) 20 marks
The examination section Sprechen – Speaking is a group examination with a maximum of 6 students and consists of three parts. Candidates sit in a circle. Teil 1: Sich vorstellen (4 marks)
Students introduce themselves using four points of a set of 6 points. E.g.:

Teil 2: Um Informationen bitten und Informationen geben (8 marks) In this part of the test each candidate chooses one card. The candidate asks his/her partner a question using the specified word / the specified words on the set topic. The candidate answers and in turn asks the next candidate using the card s/he has chosen. The procedure continues till all candidates have asked and answered a question each. 6 cards with different words and the same topic are provided. The maximum number of candidates in the group is 6. Each question and each answer carries 4 marks. Teil 3: Etwas anbieten, Bitten, Vorschläge und Ratschläge formulieren und darauf reagieren (6 marks) In this part of the test a set of 6 cards is set. Every card represents a different picture of an object or a situation. Each candidate chooses one card. Using the same procedure used in Teil 2 the candidate uses the image on the card to formulate a proposal, a request, make a suggestion or give advice. The next candidate reacts accordingly. The procedure continues till all candidates have used their card. Each question/demand etc. and each answer/reaction carries 3 marks. Additional mark allocation (2 marks) Intonation and Pronunciation carry a maximum of 2 marks.

Marks are allotted according to the language, structures, fluency and criteria as explained in the teacher’s paper. Differentiation is by outcome. (Please, refer to the level descriptors in Handbook and to the Teacher’s Paper -Speaking). WRITTEN PAPER
(Duration: Listening -30 minutes + Reading, Sprachbausteine, Writing - 1hr 30 minutes ) This section consists of 2 parts:
Part A is a Listening paper
Part B is a Reading +Sprachbausteine + Writing paper. Part A
2. HÖREN -- LISTENING 25 marks
At the beginning of the examination this section only is to be distributed to the students. The listening test is performed and students` papers are then collected. The second part of the written paper (Reading, Sprachbausteine, Writing) is handed out and students continue the examination. Teil 1: Situationen (5 marks) Matching picture to text heard. One picture has no solution. Teil 2: Mitteilungen, Durchsagen (10 marks) 5 Texts – 2 Multiple Choice questions (Mehrfachauswahl) on each text. Teil 3: Gespräche, Dialoge (10 marks) 2 Texts -- 5 Right / Wrong statements (richtig / falsch) on each text. The student`s paper Hören is collected at the end of Listening section and the next second part of the paper (Reading, Sprachbausteine, Writing) is distributed. The students then continue with the examination. Part B
3. LESEN -- READING 19 marks

4. SPRACHBAUSTEINE 16 marks
N.B. The strands Reading and Writing are also included in the Section SPRACHBAUSTEINE
Teil 1: Kurze Lückentexte mit Bildern und einer Wörterliste (3 Punkte) Fill in six missing words in six sentences supported by a picture with word/s from a given set of words. Teil 2: Fragen stellen (5 Punkte) Match questions to given answers. Teil 3: Lückentext (4 Punkte) Fill in 8 missing words in a text from a set of ten words. Teil 4: Mehrfachauswahl (4 Punkte) A text is set with 8 Multiple choice sets of words. Underline the correct word.
5. SCHREIBEN -- WRITING 20marks
Teil I: Satzbau (5 Punkte) Build a short text of 4 sentences by forming correct sentences using a given a set of words correctly. The verb of each sentence is given in the infinitive. Teil II : Mitteilung / E-Mail / Postkarte/Liste /Einladung u.s.w.: (5 Punkte) This may consist of a choice from various types of texts: e.g. short note, e-mail, postcard, list, invitation etc.

Der Teil SPRECHEN ist eine Gruppenprüfung mit jeweils maximal sechs Schülerinnen und
Schülern und besteht aus drei Teilen.
Teil 1 – Sich vorstellen (Level 5 , 6)
AUFGABENBLATT 1
Im ersten Teil sollen die Schülerinnen und Schüler zeigen, dass sie in der Lage sind, sich in
einfachen Sätzen vorzustellen. In diesem Teil stellen sich die Schülerinnen und Schüler reihum mit
mindestens vier Sätzen vor.
In Teil 1 können maximal 4 Punkte erzielt werden.
Teil 2 Um Informationen bitten und Informationen geben (Level 5, 6, 7)
a) Zu einem vorgegebenen Thema Fragen stellen.
b) Auf Fragen einer Mitschülerin/eines Mitschülers antworten.
In diesem Teil ziehen die Schülerinnen und Schüler eine Handlungskarte. Dazu sollen sie ihrer
Mitschülerin/ihrem Mitschüler mithilfe der angegebenen Wort/den angegebenen Wörtern eine
Frage zum Thema stellen. Die Mitschülerin / der Mitschüler antwortet direkt.

In diesem Teil ziehen die Teilnehmenden eine Handlungskarte. Jede Handlungskarte präsentiert das
Piktogramm eines Gegenstands. Mithilfe der Handlungskarte formuliert jede/r Teilnehmende eine
Bitte, einen Vorschlag, ein Angebot oder einen Ratschlag und richtet dies an den folgenden
Teilnehmer / an die folgende Teilnehmerin. Die Mitschülerin/der Mitschüler führt entweder die
Aufforderung aus oder antwortet mit einem kurzen Satz. Dann formuliert er/sie selbst eine Bitte,
einen Vorschlag, ein Angebot oder einen Ratschlag und richtet dies an den folgenden/ an die
folgende Teilnehmer/in in der Gruppe.
In Teil 3 können maximal 6 Punkte erzielt werden; drei für die Aufforderung und drei für die
Reaktion/Antwort.
Vor der Prüfung kopieren Sie bitte die Aufgabenblätter 1, 2, 3 und
schneiden Sie die Karten aus.
Nach der Prüfung sammelt der/die Prüfer/in die Aufgabenblätter ein.
BEWERTUNGSKRITERIEN - SPRECHEN

Die Leistung der Schülerinnen/Schüler wird anhand der folgenden zwei Kriterien beurteilt.
- Erfüllung der Aufgabenstellung.
- Aussprache.
Für das Kriterium Erfüllung der Aufgabenstellung können für Teil 1 maximal 4 Punkte und
für Teil 2 und 3 maximal 8 und 6 Punkte erzielt werden.
Für das Kriterium Aussprache können für den gesamten Testteil SPRECHEN maximal 2 Punkte
erzielt werden.
Im Testteil SPRECHEN können maximal 20 Punkte erzielt werden.
