All students swam their personal bests. We are very excited that 6 students will be representing the Lachlan district and competing in Dubbo at the Western Carnival on Friday the 13 th of March. Daisy – 8 year old girls 50m freestyle, Jarrod – 13 year old boys 50m freestyle, Ryan – 100m open freestyle, 12 year old boys 50m freestyle and backstroke, PP5 relay, Senior Boys Relay, Eve – PP5 relay, George – PP5 relay Jimmy – PP5 relay. Thanks to our friends in Quandialla for organising some extra training this Thursday in Forbes. This is an excellent opportunity to improve our strokes and relay tactics before Dubbo. Thanks also to Hannah for supporting our students to get to and from Forbes. Parent Information BBQ Thanks to everyone who responded to our parent meetings. These will be held on Tuesday afternoon. Please be on time for your meeting, if you come early you can have a chat with the other parents and enjoy our free sausage sizzle. If at the end of the meeting you would like more time, please arrange with your child’s teacher another appointment. If you would like to change the time and or date of your meeting please inform the school as soon as possible. Mindblank Theatre Year 6 students have been invited to Grenfell Public School to participate in the Mindblank Theatre on March 10. Students will travel by bus to Grenfell and have lunch with the other Year 6 students before the theatre. There will be no cost, information about the theatre is as follows: The Story of Dan Dan starts the show as a highly functioning, socially well-adjusted teen, and is an only child in a single parent family. His mother then starts a new relationship and has twins to this relationship. Dan’s world starts to fall apart following a move to another town due to family financial pressures and the necessity for Dan’s step father to find new employment. In this forum the audience is questioned as to how we can help Dan through various difficult periods of his life. Key Program Themes - Building confidence, Addressing negative self-talk, Help seeking, Conflict resolution skills and Peer pressure. Debating Year 5 and 6 students participating in the debating workshop in Forbes on 11 March will receive a permission note this week. School Start and Finish Times A reminder that staff are on duty from 8.30am to supervise students. School finishes and the buses leave at 3.20pm. Please inform the school, within a reasonable timeframe, if your child has a change to their normal afternoon routine. Child Protection Beginning next week the 3-6 class Health lessons will be addressing the Child Protection outcomes. Everything we learn is directly from the NSW PDHPE Syllabus. The subjects include, safe and unsafe touch, keeping safe online and stranger danger. You are welcome to contact the school for more information on the content of these subjects if you are concerned. If you do not wish your child to participate in these lessons please send a note to the school by Wednesday 4 th March.
