This includes:◦ Carbohydrates◦ Protein◦ Fat◦ Vitamins and minerals◦ Water◦ Fibre

We are able to test for many different food groups within the science lab

Testing for Starch◦ Add a few drops of iodine and record any colour change

Testing for Glucose◦ Add 10ml of Benedict’s solution, heat up by placing into a

beaker of hot water and record any colour change

Testing for Protein (Biuret test)◦ Add a few drops of Biuret solution◦ Record any colour change

Testing for Fats◦ Add ethanol and shake ◦ Record any colour change
