CHAMPIONING FOOD SAFETY IN SINGAPORE

ACI conducted the inaugural run of the WSQ Apply Food Safety Management Systems for Food Service Establishments (FSMS) course in April 2017. This marked a significant milestone as ACI, became one of only two training providers for this programme. The course is mandatory for all food catering companies. With the inclusion of FSMS, ACI is poised as the only training institute with the full suite of mandatory food safety programmes in the market. This programme series contributes up to 3,000 training places each year and allows us to offer a one-stop training solution for companies.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Many chefs do not have formal industry qualifications and hence may not be eligible for high-level courses. To encourage chefs to continue upgrading their skills, ACI implemented Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Through RPL, ACI can assess prospective trainees who have the skills and knowledge gained from years of industry experience. This has enabled Nicholas Loo, a cook from Four Seasons Hotel, to enrol in ACI’s WSQ Diploma in Culinary Arts.

At the official launch of the programme, Minister for Education, Mr Ong Ye Kung, participated in SIRS’ SFDW class and experienced the immersive and fun learning environment that helped participants to be future-ready.
