Ann Link, Manager of The Co-operativeFood on Brackley High Street, movedto the store from the Woodford Halsebranch last year as part of her careerprogression within the business.
Ann is full of praise about how The Co-operativesupports its colleagues, encourages careerprogression and benefits the local community.
Ann shows us around The Co-operative Food store, which really is a ‘little gem’. Inside you’ll find all thegroceries you need from fresh-baked bread and cakesto a lunchtime snack or items for your evening meal. The store also delivers newspapers within Brackleyand to nearby villages – ask inside for details. Manylocal residents prefer to shop at the high street storebecause of its convenience.
As well as food stores, The Midcounties Co-operativeoperates local funeral services, pharmacies, travelbranches, childcare nurseries, post offices, and willsoon be supplying gas and electric across the UK.Midcounties members receive a share of the profits onpurchases so the more you spend the more you earn.

Dementia Cafés were started in 1997by Dr Bere Miesen (Psychologist) in theNetherlands. Dr. Miesen met people withdementia and their families and talking
about the illness evenbetween partners orwithin a family wasoften taboo. Dr Miesendecided that it would be good if all those involvedcould meet each other in a relaxed forum, talk aboutdementia and share their experience and concerns.By talking about the problems that having dementiabrings, a person and their families can better managesituations.
The Alzheimer's Society has set up 11 dementia cafésthroughout Northamptonshire and each cafe is heldon a monthly basis. Time is spent with supportivepeople in a relaxed social setting. Each month thereis a guest speaker to give a talk on a wide range ontopics. There are free refreshments, and maybe if timea fun activity.

Comic Relief was launched from arefugee camp in Sudan on ChristmasDay in 1985, live on BBC One. Atthat time, a devastating famine wascrippling Ethiopia and something had to
be done. That something was Comic Relief. The idea was simple – Comic Relief would get awhole bunch of much-loved British comedians tomake the public laugh while they raised money tohelp people in desperate need. As well as doingsomething about the very real and direct emergencyin Ethiopia, Comic Relief was determined to helptackle the broader needs of poor and disadvantagedpeople both in Africa and here at home in the UK.It all began with a few live events and, before too long, Red Nose Day wascreated. The first ever Red Nose Day in 1988took the nation by storm – bringingtogether comedy and charity likenever before on live national TV.
How it all began for…It raised a staggering £15m.The eleven Red Nose Days
that have followed since have raised morethan £459m. That money has helped, and is helping,to support people and communities in dire need bothin the UK and Africa. As well as all those famous people raising hugeamounts of money, you too can help and have greatfun, be it at home school or work, whether it’s a showof some kind where you can sell tickets, sponsoredsilence or simply wandering up and down your streetwith a bucket collecting change. Maintenance Payments –
In the current economic climate, maintenancepayments can be a bone of contention betweenseparated couples. Maintenance payments maybe for a former wife or husband and/or for
children. Any change to those maintenance paymentsmay have a serious effect on all concerned.
For example, a separated parent with care of a childmay rely heavily on child maintenance payments andany interruption to those payments could have a majorimpact on their household finances.
On the other hand, a parent who no longer lives withtheir child may, for example, find that maintenancepayments, however much they wish to make them, become unaffordable, due to a drop in income or asa result of redundancy. While some cases may needto be resolved in court, others may be settled throughcorrespondence or mediation.

Are you considering the purchase of aproperty? Would you buy a car withouta warranty or without having beeninspected by a qualified technician?
Why do so many people buy properties costing manytimes more than cars without commissioning a surveyon the condition of the property?
The mortgage provider will usually insist on avaluation survey but you will not be able to viewthe results. The valuation survey does not check thatthe property is free of defects – it is simply a checkthat the property that will be used to secure yourmortgage actually exists and that the purchase priceis approximately correct. They may also try to sell oneof their expensive surveys, but you do not have to usetheir panel of surveyors.
An independently commissioned Home ConditionSurvey (HCS) will provide a detailed report in plainEnglish on the condition of the various elements ofthe property. The report will be provided by a fully

qualified and accredited Home Inspector. It will reporton any Health and Safety issues, any flooding riskbased on information from the Environment Agencyand any risk from Radon gas based on the RadonAtlas. The report could be used for peace of mind thatyour intended future property is safe and sound, orcould be used to negotiate a revised offer, or couldresult in you walking way from an unsound property.

On February 11th 1600, Shakespeare'soriginal fool, Will Kempe undertook anine day 120 mile Morris dance, fromLondon to Norwich, Tom Clare of Brackleyhas now emulated the feat!
Having first heard the story of Kempe'snine day Morris dance when I joinedthe Brackley Morris men a few yearsago, and being a passionate dancerand fond of feats of stamina, I instantlythought - "Wow, that's something I'dlove to do!" Earlier this year I wastrying to come up with original and unusual ideas to raisesponsorship money for community perma-culture projects, when I remembered Kempe's stunt and figured my chancehad come! Although I couldn’t spend a whole monthor expect anything like the reception that Will Kempereceived, I'm elated that I at least recreated the spirit andtiming of the original dance.

TOP TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR CAR'SBODYWORK IN TOP CONDITION1: Keep it clean! However tempting it is to leave itroad grime and salt from gritting, etc will eat yourpaintwork accelerating any corrosion and causinglackluster shine
2: Wash away bird droppings as soon as you can,It will eat into the paint, once there, is no getting rid ofthe mark without repainting. (Especially true with newpaint finishes)
3: Give it a coat of wax once in a while! You don’tneed to be out there every weekend but a coat of wax
will do wonders forthe look of your carand help to sealthe moisture out ofthe paint surfaceand joints ( lesscorrosion = moreresale value)

fire and theft is precisely that – covers youonly for fire or theft incidents. Remember itis a legal requirement to have at least third
party motor insurance
This time we look at Third Party Fire & Theft(TPFT) car insurance that will cover you forany injury or even death caused to thirdparties and legal costs in the event of such
proceedings, but not any fines you may incur as wellas if your car is stolen.
If you have TPFT cover then you will be able topursue a claim for any such damage or loss to yourcar, including (subject to a maximum value). The fireprovision is mainly for when a car is burnt by thievesto cover their tracks, but can apply any other firedamage to the vehicle.
What is Third Party Fire
Expect to pay excess before recovering any paymentin the event of a fire or theft claim. This tends to bebetween £100 and £500 but can be higher or lower,

The main difference is damage to your car.Comprehensive cover will repair your car after acollision (or pay you the market value for the car if itis uneconomical to repair), where Third Party, Fire andTheft is precisely that – covers you only for fire or theftincidents. Steering his career towards the drivingindustry has put James Dickson on theroad to success. James is one of theyoungest fully qualified Driving Instructors
in the country and after being with one of the UK’slargest Driving Schools for around a year, he hasnow decided to step it up a gear and has started hisown Driving School - JD’s Driving School based inTowcester, and covering the surrounding areas.
Having wanted to become a Driving Instructor sincehe was 17, he finally had the chance to do soand qualified after passing the three required DSAinstructor’s exams.
James says “I do get some interesting looks as ifpeople are thinking “who is teaching who?”. Oneof the biggest advantages of being a younger DriverInstructor is that I can relate to my students effectively,as I sat the very same test they are taking. “I do feelmy age and knowledge is also an advantage whenit comes to driving home the message of safe driving,
JD’s Driving School offers the route to pass successas younger people seem to listen more when theadvice is coming from someone of a similar age”.
JD’s teaches students of all ages from the under 17s(off road) right through to a 73 year old lady whorecently undertook refresher lessons.
In March JD’s Driving school will be welcoming thearrival of the much anticipated Audi A1 Sport, anothergood reason to learn with JD’s and with the first lessonfree - why not try JD’s Driving School?
