Start by Turning off Your Main Water
While it is possible to localize and stopping or water flow only to the area affected by the leak,it is suggested that you stop all water flow in the home.
As quickly as possible, gather some plumber's putty, a cloth and some waterproof duct tape.
■ Use the cloth to clean any surrounding moisture or any dirt or debris that may affect the impact of your repair.
■ Using a thick layer of plumber's putty, cover the leak until all instances of escaping water have been cleared.
■ When the putty is stable, leave it to dry for about five to six hours.
■ Now that the pipe is completely dry, wrap the area with waterproof tape such as duct tape.
■ Once you are confident that the leak has been plugged, try turning your water supply back on.
