This next series, “Lectio Divina” is going to help students slow down and discover the art of listening, meditation, prayer, and contemplation. 1. Purpose to interact more – Start by generating conversations along the way, in the car or in the grocery store, at an appointment2. Make it a priority to have dinner together – Try to have dinner at the same time at least a couple of times a week 3. Develop a family night – Start with whatever they like to do and morph into spiritual conversations – Jesus said we would be fishers of men4. Go through your journals together one evening a week – Use your youngest child as the platform for discussion5. Eventually spend time each night talking about your journal readings as a family NOTE: The television is a great distraction but you have to turn it off nightly to make time for interaction.
