CUTTING REQUIREMENTSPlease read instructions first before cutting. Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting the border pieces.
Teal MainCut 7 strips 7½” x WOF for Border 2.
Pink BirdsCut out 10 petals from the template. Add ¼” seam allowance if necessary for your favorite method of appliqué.
Pink WallpaperCut out 10 petals from the template. Add ¼” seam allowance if necessary for your favorite method of appliqué.
Gray AsterCut 8 strips 4½” x WOF.
Teal NewsprintCut out 10 petals from the template. Add ¼” seam allowance if necessary for your favorite method of appliqué.
Teal LaceCut out 10 petals from the template. Add ¼” seam allowance if necessary for your favorite method of appliqué.
Snow White ShadeCut 7 strips 4½” x WOF.Cut 4 strips 12½” x WOF. Cut the strips into 10 squares 12½” x 12½”.
Shell ShadeCut 6 strips 2½” x WOF for Border 1.
QUILT ASSEMBLYRefer to quilt photo for placement of fabrics.
Petal BlockUsing your favorite method of appliqué, sew the petals to the snow white shade 121/2” squares. Make 10 Petal Blocks.
Nine-Patch BlockSew a 4½” gray aster strip to both sides of a 4½” snow white shade strip to create a gray/white/gray strip set. Repeat to create 3 gray/white/gray strip sets. Press. Cut the strip sets into 4½” segments to create 20 Unit A’s.
Sew a 4½” snow white shade strip to both sides of a 4½” gray aster strip to create a white/gray/white strip set. Repeat to create 2 white/gray/white strip sets. Press. Cut the strip sets into 4½” segments to create 10 Unit B’s.
Sew 2 Unit A’s and 1 Unit B together to create the Nine-Patch Block. Repeat to create 10 Nine-Patch Blocks.
Quilt Center AssemblyRefer to quilt photo for placement of Petal and Nine-Patch Blocks. Lay out blocks in 5 rows of 4 blocks. Sew rows together to complete the center of the quilt.
BordersSeam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Sew border strips together end to end if necessary to get the length needed. Sew side borders first.
Border 1Side borders should be 60½”. Top and bottom borders should be 52½”.
Border 2Side borders should be 64½”. Top and bottom borders should be 66½”.
Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back. Bind with your favorite Riley Blake fabric from The Cottage Garden Collection. Have fun with your colors and enjoy the journey of making your quilt.
