BAJAJ DR GIN INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
Loosen cap nut before adjusting the beater height Tighten fully after giving a few turns to align the bearing Housing
Turn the rachet clockwise for reducing beater height.Turn the rachet anti-clockwise for increasing beater height.
Loosen or tighten these bolts for setting the knife rail. After setting, both the bolts should be fully tightened.
Loosen these nuts before adjusting the knife rail.Tighten fully after adjustment.
Projection of knife rail side adjustment.
The Bajaj DR Gin is supplied in assembled condition at the time of installation DR Gin, it must be ensured that the below Gin Seed conveyor might have been fitted in the cement trench. Following steps are required to be taken for installation of the machine :
1. Place the DR Gin on the foundation bolts and all the nuts should be tightened. The water level should be checked to ensure that the surface level is 0-0 at the bottom of the rail (plunt). If the level is not 0-0 an appropriate packing is to be provided below the DR Gin frame after loosening of nuts and then the nuts shall be tightened again.
2. The Machine Beater Assembly should be set as per the requirement of quality of cotton in the area. The clearance required between Fixed Knife and Moving Knife should be 1.5mm to 2 mm. It should be set with the help of Gauge supplied with the machine.
3. Check all the nut bolts to ensure that none has got loosen while in transit or mounting on foundation.
4. Motor rails are mounted on foundation bolts and nuts are tightened.
5. Electric Motor should be fitted on Motor Rails and Vee Belt Pulley line and level should be maintained straight. Motor Bo l ts shou ld be properly tightened and Vee Belt should be properly fitted on Motor Pulley and Machine Pulley.
6. Leather roll is then fitted on the DR Gin by moving out off side swing lever assembly. Slightly greesed roll shaft is then mounted on swing lever assembly gear side and then off side swing lever assembly is moved into it to position the roll. The roll is then rotated by hand to ensure that the taper pin does not touches the frame while in rotation.
7. Hopper tray is then mounted on DR Gin frame directly incase of manual ginning whereas in case of auto feeder the same is mounted only after the installation of auto feeder as per the guidelines mentioned in this book.
8. The weights are loaded on the weight lever rods as per the guidelines mentioned in this book and roll polishing is done.
BAJAJ DR GIN & AUTOFEEDER SPARE PARTS CATALOGUE 2010
1. First carefully set the fixed knife using the gauge supplied with the gin. Normally the edges of the fixed knife are to be set at 85 mm from the seat on the knife rail throughout.
2. Then set the edges of moving knife on beater arm from the edges of the fixed knife i.e. set the moving knife parallel to the fixed knife throughout at a distance 1.5 mm to 2 mm. This is effected by :1) Adjusting the rail by means of loosening & tightening of the rail bolts in case the clearances at opposite diagonal ends are found unequal2) If gap is more, packing may be provided on beater arm to lift the moving knife.
3. Place the oscillating head on the beater shaft. Insert the head pin with needle bearing and connect it to connecting rod by wrist pin/gajjan pin.4. Set the moving knife in a way that strokes on both the sides are equal; however, if overlap on both sides is not equal then this can be
affected by:1) Adjusting the ratchet, in case the overlap on gear side of machine is not same as that on offside.2) Adjusting the setting from the head
5. The edges of the moving knife should clear the upper edge of fixed knife by about 1/3 of the staple length of the cotton being ginned. Normally 1/16” extra overlap should be there along the entire length of fixed knife if moisture contents are standard or on higher side; however, if cotton is having lower moisture, cut-off may be restricted to 1/3 of the staple length.
6. Slight reduction or increase in overlap can be adjusted by adjusting the head pin. By pulling out the head pin from the oscillating head ,the overlap is reduced. By pushing the head pin in the oscillating head, the overlap is increased. The longer the staple of cotton, the greater the overlap distance.
7. Grid bottom is then adjusted with the corresponding portion of the rails so that the gap between the two shall not exceed the seed size. The seed shall passed between the gap by slight pressure of finger. If this gap is more the cotton mill pass into the seed whereas if this gap is less cut seeds will be found in the lint. This gap can be adjusted by means of slots provided on the beater trough by loosening the bolts joining the grid and beater trough. For better understanding, a chart showing important setting parameters is given below:

Note : the grooving on roller has been described in Bajaj DR Gin starting guidelines.
For overlap and suitability of grids, normally following settings are used:
While setting overlap, the fiber length, moisture and quality of cotton must be given due consideration. Looking to the above parameters machine to be set properly.

BAJAJ DR GIN STARTING GUIDELINES
I. Machine Beater Assembly should be set as per the requirement of quality of cotton in the area.2. All the points should be greased as per instructions provided about greasing. This is very important and proper care should be taken to
see that proper greasing is done, as shown on page no. 4.3. All the nut & bolts should be checked and tightened which might have got loosened during transit, loading, erection etc.4. After Beater setting, Machine should be run without putting Leather Washer Rolls on Machine i.e. without Rolls & without feeding any
cotton for about two hours5. After two hours of running, the Leather Rolls should be properly fitted to the Machine with Ball Joints properly greased or plain Roll
Shaft. All four Weights should be kept near the Rolls so that minimum load is there on the Machine. Then Machine should be started by lifting the Weights and slowly the Weights should be put back on Rolls.
6. The Machine should be run with Rolls fitted on it without feeding the cotton, and all the parts should be checked and if any bearing portion is observed hot the Machine should be stopped and greasing should be checked. After cooling of the part, grease the part and restart. Again check the part and if still observed hot, repeat the process few times to make the bearing free.
7. After running of about half an hour with Rolls, the Rolls will start getting polished / hot. Apply a wet clothth roughou t t he w id th o f t he Rollers of both sides, however, if Roll is not getting hot, then Weights should be pushed forward to increase the load so that Rolls can get polished fast. After about 8 hours of running, Machine should be stopped for about half an hour and all the parts should be once again checked. After further running of 4 hours without cotton, Machine shall be ready to use for cotton ginning.
8. After polishing of Rolls, the Rolls should be grooved properly on Roll Stand and reloaded on Machine. The groove specifications have been described on page no. 3 in settings required column.
9. After 8 hours running in above manner and cooling down period and loading of Polished Rolls with proper grooving, feeding of the raw cotton should be started. If proper flow of the lint is coming out from both the Rolls then Machine may be treated properly set, however, if any difference is found in the flow, necessary adjustment to Beater Head and Beater should be done to ensure proper flow of lint from each side.
10. In case extra thick blanket of cotton is observed, the Cut Off for higher length of staple can be increased by pushing the Head Pin inside to increase Cut Off. Similarly, if extra thin blanket is coming out of the Machine, there may be less staple length. This may be adjusted by pulling out the Head Pin outside slightly and head Bolt should be tightened to ensure equal flow of cotton lint from both the sides.
CHROME LEATHER ROLLER MAINTENANCE
1. Leather Rollers should be medium pressed as excess pressing may cause loss of shining and production of the cotton lint.2. Periodical grooving everyday should be done on Leather Rollers to maintain the depth of the groove to about 2 mm. The normal distance
between two grooves should be about 1” to 1-1/2”.However, this may be adjusted as per length of the staple.3. While cutting the groove, the saw should be kept straight so that the width of the groove is not increased and cut seed is avoided.4. The re-grooving of the Rollers should be done after about every 22 working hours.5. Only good quality Chrome Leather Washers should be used for better compatibility with knife, longer life of Roll & Knife and better lint
quality and output.Note : The roll washers shall be changed once the diameter reduces to 5 inches
Since it is very important that only high quality compatible spare parts should be used. Such as if the Knife is extra hard, it will eat out the Chrome Leather Roller very fast. Similarly if better quality Chrome Leather Washers are not used, it may affect the life of the Knife. Use genuine Bajaj Spare Parts for higher output and profitable maintenance of Bajaj DR.
The maintenance of proper moisture percentage in the raw cotton will always help better ginning. The proper moisture control methods should be used while automation of ginning factory and storage of raw cotton for better out turn.
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR BETTER WORKING AND LOWER MAINTENANCE
1. More clearance between Moving Knife & Fixed Knife.
2. Improper grooving on Leather Roll.3. Short size of Grid 4. Damage in edges of Back
Knife
1. Cut-off is excess.
2. Lower moisture
1. Cut-off is less2. Lower moisture
1. Improper positioning of Seed Guard2. Gap at sides
1. Reduce the gap between Grid Knife Rail as per seed size so that seed clears only on pressing by finger.
2. Change the size of Grid Slot according to seed size
1. Adjust the clearance betweenmoving knife and Fixed knife.
2. Control grooving to 2 mm size.
3. Use proper size Grid.4. Repair the edges of Back
Knife
1. Adjust the Cut-off/overlap asper staple length.
2. Use humidification methods.
1. Adjust the Cut-off.2. Stretch the wiper rope or Wooden
b l a n k t o w a r d s r o l l & U s ehumidification methods
1.Improve the positioning of Seed Guard.2.Remove the gap.
Trouble Symptoms Possible Causes Possible Solutions
Bajaj Auto Feeders are supplied in fully assembled condition. Proper installation of the same may be done as per following guidelines:
1. Fit the ‘U Clamp on DR Gin Machine frame properly and ensure that all the screws are tight.2. Loosen the nuts on each Mounting Angle fitted on Auto Feeder.3. Lift the Auto Feeder from four studs on take up unit and place it firmly on DR Gin Machine frame.4. Match the holes of ‘U’ Clamp with that of holes in Angle by adjusting the Auto Feeder Position.5. Insert the Hinge Pin in the hole of ‘U’ clamp and mounting angle & lock it by split pin on both sides.6. Tighten the nuts on each Folding Angle in this position.7. Adjust the Bearing Bracket to the lower most position.8. Tighten the V Belt / Link Belt between the Drive Pulley and Clutch Pulleys as per cross alignment.9. Check that all the Auto Feeder Rollers are straight and both the sides are aligned at 0-0.10. Check that Auto Feeder Cloth is neither very tight nor loose, this can be adjusted by bearing bracket.11. Check that all the Spike Strips are straight & no nails are broken or damaged.
BAJAJ DR GIN & AUTOFEEDER SPARE PARTS CATALOGUE 2010
1. Start the Auto Feeder keeping the Upper Drive Roller in the minimum tension and check that the Conveyor Cloth is having sufficient tension to make it rotate along with Rollers, however, if it is loose adjust the Bearing Bracketequally on each side.
2. If any tilting or shifting is observed in the Conveyor Cloth, it should be adjusted so that it is straight. This can again be adjusted by tensioning & loosening of bearing bracket.
3. Avoid extra tightening of Conveyor Cloth ,however, it should have sufficient tension for proper drive by roll.4. At the time of starting ,the Auto Feeder should be empty and raw cotton should be filled only after starting.5. Ensure that the raw cotton is not filled excessively. In any case it should not be filled above the level of inspection window given
on side cover drive side/offside.6. Regularly clean the Auto Feeder by cleaning cloth at least once a month inside to remove the cotton and
materials which might have entered inside. Because this might cause tearing of cloth due to friction.7. Periodically check the tension in Cloth.8. Due to elongation, the Link Belt / Vee Belt may get loose in the beginning. Adjust the tension with the help of Tension
Pulley and by removing Links wherever necessary.9. Periodically open the glass door of the Hopper Sheet to remove impurities such as immature boils, stones,
leaves etc.
1. Cloth shifts to one side
2. Upper Roller Shifts to one side
3. Lower flow of the raw cotton
4. Seeds coming out of lower portion of Hopper
1. Unequal tension on Roller
1. Lock bush might be loose
2. UCT Bearing Allen Grub Screw might be loose
1. Centre Pipe may be on lower Position for higher moisture Cotton
1. Hopper Sheet bend
2. Hopper Sheet not properly set on Seed Guard
Probable Causes 1. Adjust the tension of the Roller either by increasing tension on the side which is down or slightly reduce the Tension on other side.
1. Tight the Lock Bush from belt sides.2. Tighten the Allen Grub Screw on Bearings on both Sides.
1. If cotton moisture is low lift the Centre Pipe to the upper Hole.
1. Straighten the Hopper Sheet or provide Stiffener if necessary.2. Properly push the Hopper Sheet to reduce the gap between Hopper Sheet
and Seed Guard.
