OVERVIEW
Dear Radway Resident,
The following is the result of the survey you completed last year. It has taken some time to come together as we were short of volunteers, so our apologies
for this. We think the results show that the villagers in the main like their surroundings, do not want great changes, and want a peaceful life. Some
issues exist of course and these need to be looked at to see if there is anything that can be done within the restrictions that these times place upon
us.
Thank you once again for your co-operation.
If you have any queries at all please contact any of the Parish Councillors who will be happy to help.

Radway Parish Survey 2010 1
1.0 Introduction
The survey was designed to assist Radway Parish Council’s plans for improving Radway and
the future of the local community buy providing resident feedback on a number of important
issues. In particular, the objective is to receive residents’ views on current facilities and
services in Radway, and to ensure the requirements of the village as a whole are identified.
2.0 Methodology
Radway Parish Council, with Stratford District Council designing the final version, developed
the questionnaire.
58 questionnaires were returned from around 100 distributed in the village (58% household
response rate). 119 residents completed the survey as more than one response was allowed
on a single questionnaire (up to 6 residents of a property aged 11 or over was able to
complete it).
The report follows the order of the questionnaire. Charts and tables are used throughout the
report to assist the interpretation of the results. In some cases, anomalies appear due to
“rounding”.
Results were run using one cross tabulation for gender to see if differences occurred in
attitude. No results saw any significant differences in attitude.
The term “base” in the tables and charts refer to the number of responses to a particular
question.

Appendix 4: Responses to Q43: Other suggestions
(8 comments)
 Remove suburban features
Pick up rubbish from sides of roads off road car parking
I do not wish to see Radway "Urbanised" with more lighting pavements, curbs and
gentrification. I chose to live in Radway for its simplicity and country ways. It is
important to me that we maintain these values
Take out the hedge that mums from 1 - 5. The green that belongs still to the housing
association to make more parking
Moved to Radway because it was mainly unspoilt!
Please never remove the hedge on the green from houses 1 to 5. It is a popular bird
nesting site
Plant trees but with much thought - trees grow big and not in verges
 Make pond deeper
Appendix 5: Responses to Q46: Other suggestions
(16 comments)
No more light (no more parking minimize extra signage, reduce municipal impact
 As in Q43 above
Status Quo apart from social housing and email lock up business units
Doesn’t use change much. 2) Have a dog mess bin at the west end area of village as
plastic bags are always being left there or dog mess!
Higher speed internet, underground electricity cables
Provision of allotments for those with smaller gardens, managed, thoughtfully provided
parking
 A Shop
 A shop/general stores/ post office
Radway is fine as it is, my home for nearly 90 years
 Less light pollution
Public transport - bus service more frequent
A better electricity and phone line supply
 More play equipment at park
Leave Radway as it is please
 Nothing needed
Mobile Shop, pub (weekend only) and dog bin on Nortons Lane
Appendix 6: Responses to Q50: Other suggestions

That is the responsibility of a responsible parish council - as in elected
From the current council tax which I pay
From council tax wastage which occurs at the moment e.g. repeated road mending
when not needed
 Grants
Council tax should be spent on the essential improvements! Many of us pay a high
contribution already with few returns
