A Catholic Centre of Faith, Leadership and MissionThe St. Therese Catholic College of Faith and Mission is a dual purpose facility offering Catholic formation (the College) in the East Wing and spiritual growth (the Healing and Growth Centre) in the West Wing. St. Therese’s offers adults of all ages and levels of spirituality opportunities to develop and strengthen their faith in order to grow to fullness in Christ. The teaching and growth programs are designed to help each of us achieve our mission in life and to see ourselves as God sees us.

As a Christ-centered community, St. Therese’s follows Catholic teaching and tradition in the spirit of St. Therese of Lisieux, and we encourage you to come and experience the Lord with the humble confi dence of St. Therese who said... “Jesus, help me to simplify my life by learning who you want me to be – and becoming that person”. The Catholic College of Faith and Mission is a spiritual refuge located in Bruno, Saskatchewan, a short 50 minute drive on Highway 5 from Saskatoon. The college has acquired the impressive Ursuline Academy, a 65,000 sq.ft. historical building on 65 acres of beautiful land with evergreen, birch and poplar trees, and an orchard of 11,000 cherry trees. The vibrant teaching and community environment is balanced by the peace and silence of Canada’s heartland.

world. All of us know, if we are honest with ourselves, that we long for something more. God created us to be empowered in a life of faith and mission. You and I were created to be instruments of God’s love. Togetherwith God, we can transform ourselves and our world.

St. Therese: A Visionary DiscipleSt. Therese was a young woman afl ame with the love of God. She wrote of her own spiritual journey:

“I no longer know how to ask passionately for anything except that the will of God shall be perfectly accomplished in my soul”.

She is a dynamic witness, revealing how God can accomplish great things in us when we say “Yes” to His will. His will is perfect for us. In His will is the joy and peace St. Therese found. The question for all of us is: Are we willing to participate fully in God’s amazing plan for us; are we willing to trust Him completely?

HistoryIn 1984 the John Paul II Bible School opened in Radway, AB. Inspired that same year by the way God was moving in Radway, plans for the Catholic Discipleship College in Auckland, New Zealand, started to form: CDC offi cially opened its doors in March 2007. Through likewise inspiration, meetings began in 1988 for the creation of a school near Winnipeg, MB: the Catholic School of Evangelization opened at St. Malo, MB in 1992. In 2006, Our Lady’s School of Evangelization in Knock, Ireland opened its doors, graduated its fi rst class this past June.

The St. Therese Catholic College of Faith and Mission also traces its roots to the John Paul II Bible School and is the 5th such college in the English speaking world!

4) When does this program start?Students arrive September 29, 2007 with classes commencing on October 1, 2007. Students will graduate in June 2008.

Please apply as soon as possible to reserve your spot in the class, and to help us in our planning and preparation.

5) What is the cost?The cost for our inaugural year is $4,900.00. This covers about half our costs; the rest is provided through the donations of those who support our program.

The price covers room, board, and tuition. We encourage students with fi nancial diffi culties to try to fi nd 10 donors to sponsor you at $500.00 each.

1) What is the School of Faith and Mission?The St. Therese School of Faith and Mission is a nine month program designed to help you deepen and explore your faith and connect with your God-given mission in life.

2) Who can come?Any person aged 17+, Catholic or not, with a sincere desire to grow in relationship with Jesus and live a deep life of faith and mission. We especially encourage graduates of other formation programs and ministries who are searching for their next step on life’s journey.

3) What will I experience and learn?• You will grow in intimate communion with Jesus and His

family, the Church.• You will experience a deep life of personal and communal

prayer and worship.• You will integrate the riches of scripture and Catholic

theology in daily life.• You will develop dynamic communication, leadership,

evangelization and ministry skills.• You will actively discern and live your God-given purpose

Upon graduation, qualifi ed graduates will be offered the opportunity for mentorship while working with affi liate ministries. These opportunities will include youth ministry, team outreach ministry, parish ministry, international missionary work, inner city ministry, and a wide variety of other areas.

Staff CornerIn the next few newsletters, we will introduce you to the amazing people God assembled to staff St.Therese College.

Fr. Clair Watrin, C.S.B., is a well known speaker and a founder of the popular “Live-In” retreat movement. He has spent the last decade as a missionary in St. Lucia in the Caribbean. We are excited to have him as our Chaplain.

Kevin Lynch has spent the last 5 years in Scottland with Living Waters Ministry, a youth evangelization ministry. He also helped start Our Lady’s School of Evangelization for youth in Knock, Ireland which opened last year. Kevin joins us as the Associate Director of the School of Faith and Mission.

Lorretta Hopegood has spent the last two years in ministry as a Program Director at Freedom’s Door in

Kelowna, BC. This is a 12 Step Christian Recovery Program for homeless men on addictions. Before coming to Freedom’s Door, Loretta spent eight years in ministry at John Paul II Bible School in Radway, AB as one of the Directors. Lorretta is the Director of the Healing and Growth Centre.

James Lipoth has spent four years as a full time music minister at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kamloops, and two years on staff with NET Ministries of Canada. He is also the co-founder of Massive Worship, a national Catholic music program that aims to equip musicians for ministry, and has produced various Catholic music CDs. James will join us as the Music Director at St. Therese.
