T oday we celebrate the Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel Jesus sends out the disciples two by two to bring his “Good News” into the villages and byways. It is a reminder to all of us that we are also still called to go out into the world
and bring it good news. Our lives hopefully become leaven for the kingdom. By living each and every day as followers of Christ, we can continue the work that the Lord began. This is a ambitious task. But we will see the results. I think the last thing the Gospel says is that we shouldn’t dwell or harbor on hurts that have been done to us. Rather shake it off and move on. Life is too short to spend it worrying or in anger. Amen! The past few weeks I was on vacation in Poland. I got to see where half of my people are from. I would like to thank Fr. Tom, and Fr. O’Mara for taking on more work while I was gone. Also, a big thanks to the staffs at both St. Agnes and St. Kieran who made sure everything ran smoothly. During the time I was away, a number of people took over writing in the bulletin. Thanks to Fr. Tom, Deacon Dave Dutko, and Mr. Lungaro for their help with the bulletin. Since they did such a good job I may have to enlist their help more often. Thanks everyone. Going away is great, but coming home is even better. A break gives us new eyes and energy for the tasks at hand. One of the tasks is to inform everyone that now is the time to register for St. Agnes School,
St. Agnes/St. Kieran Religious Education Program, and the RCIA program. So often people wait to the end and then miss out. Especially with the religious education program we limit the students enrolled based on the number of teachers we have. The same hold true for the school. If you choose to wait, it is not our fault when there is no room. So, register now! The RCIA program also is taking people now for the fall. Sometimes it is an upcoming wedding that makes people look to receiving sacraments. For others it is something that they couldn’t do when they were young, but now it makes sense. If you know anyone who would like to join the church and receive baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation they should call Carol Brothers at St. Agnes, or Joe Sopron at St. Kieran. Classes meet weekly and participants receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil. Once again, don’t wait. The Adoration Chapel at St. Agnes is also going well. The chapel is open seven days a week from 8:00 AM until 8 PM. If you have any questions about the chapel, please see the names and phone numbers listed in the bulletin. Thanks to all of the coordinators and adorers. Finally, thanks to everyone who continues to fulfill their pledges to the Teach Who Christ Is Campaign. Your dedication will make our next projects a reality. For St. Keiran it will be a new sign on Halsted. For St. Agnes we are getting ready to repair and repaint the church, along with some work on the Altar and Ambo platforms. This will be a combo TWCI and insurance project. Thanks Everyone!

Life doesn’t always go as planned — especially for the 1 in 3 seniors struggling to meet their basic needs. Today, more than 10 million people over 50 are living in poverty in the U.S., and more than 37 million are just one life event away from slipping into it. The seniors who struggle with poverty taught our children, cared for our parents, protected our com-munities and our country. And they are confronting life-altering challenges that they never expected.
AARP Foundation works to end senior poverty by helping vulnerable older adults build economic opportunity and social connectedness. As AARP’s charitable affiliate, we serve AARP members and nonmembers alike. Bolstered by vigorous legal advocacy, we spark bold, innovative solutions that foster resilience, strengthen communities and restore hope.
AARP is hosting an event with Feeding Children Everywhere to put together meals for delivering to those in need. Our goal is to put together 1,000,000 meals, but, of course, we need your help. Volunteer shifts last 90-minutes.
