This is an increase of 15.56% over the traffic handled during the corresponding period of previous year. In the current financial year up to February, 2018, Coking Coal traffic has exhibited a growth of 22.83%. Similarly, Iron Ore traffic has increased by 14.74%, POL Traffic has increased by 27.28%, Container Cargo traffic grew by 130.28% and Other Cargo Traffic has increased by 2.62%, compared to the same period of previous year. Paradip Port has retained the second highest position in terms of Cargo handled amongst all the major ports till the end of February' 2018. The Port also handled 147 vessels in February, 2018 as compared to 132 vessels in February, 2017. Paradip Port Trust handled 48.39 Million Metric Tonnes rail borne traffic up to the end of February, 2018 as compared to 46.54 Million Metric Tonnes handled during the corresponding period of the previous year. The average Berth-day output up to the month improved by 4.89% over the corresponding period of previous year. The Port achieved an output per ship berth day of 24,681 MT/Day up to February, 2018 as compared to 23,530 MT/Day. The average TRT registered an improvement from a level of 121.60Hrs upto February, 2017 to 80.92Hrs (from Readiness of Vessel) upto February, 2018. Paradip Port Surges Ahead Principal commodity-wise traffic handled during April, 2017 – February, 2018 The 34th Annual Flower Show was organized by E&CM Division of Paradip Port Trust at Officer's Club on 08.02.2018. Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT inaugurated the Flower Show in the morning. Participants exhibited spectacular collections of different verities of flowers, vegetables and plants in various categories such as 10 types of flowers, classified ornamental plants in pot arrangements, bonsai, vegetables. The myriad hues and scent of flowers at this flower show was mesmerizing. In a glittering function held in the evening, Shri Roy, Chairman, PPT, Shri N. Vaiyapuri, Dy. In a bid to curb pollution, reduce usage of carbon fuel and spread
awareness about clean environment, 'No Vehicle Day' was
observed by PPT on 28.02.2018. There was very less traffic, less
pollution and less noise on the roads in the PPT Township.
Walking and Cycle riding by PPT officials and employees were
seen on the roads. Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT led from the
front by walking to the office all the way from his official quarters.
The basic objective is to create awareness among the public and
also reduce the traffic congestion and enable PPT officers and
employees to play active role in controlling the global warming.
Not only PPT officials and employees, but also the Port Users gave
their two and four-wheelers a miss for the day and opted for walk /
bicycles instead. Officials & staff of M/s. Chennai Radha along with
officials and employees of MCHP, PPT organised a rally in the
morning to emphasize the importance of reduction of use of motor
vehicles on the road to reduce pollution, which covered a distance
from the Officers' Club Square to their worksite inside the
Harbour. The rally was flagged off by Shri N. Vaiyapuri, Dy.
Chairman, PPT. HODs of PPT after coming to their offices, planted
saplings inside the Administrative Building premises. Speech and
Slogan Competitions were held among the officers and employees
and the winners were awarded by Chairman, PPT. Swachh Bharat
Awards were also given to local organisations, PPT Officers and
Sections for the month.
All denizens have lauded the efforts undertaken by PPT and some
of them even voluntarily supported the drive and participated by
