Ahhh, February. Do you smell that in the air?
Yes, it's the season of ELECTIONS. Most
clubs should be finishing up their club elec-
tions, and newly elected members have begun
to transition into their positions. This is the
time for officers to continue their tasks and
responsibilities, while also training their new officers. Remember, a Key Club year spans
from April of one year to the April of the next
year!
At the mention of club elections, most are
anticipating the Division elections! Yes, that's
right! Conclave is almost here! I'm reminded
of the days before I ran. The feelings of nerv-
ousness and excitement. These feelings built
up inside of me, with thoughts of the future,
and look where I am today!
With the election season upon us, and the
change in club leadership, do not let this deter you in taking that extra step forward to lead
and serve your communities! Continue to re-
cruit new members into your clubs and intro-
duce them to the wonderful family of volun-
teers. I heard at a recent Kiwanis event a state-
ment that I feel can also apply to us Key Club-
bers. I have modified it for this purpose.
"People don't join Key Clubbers; they join
Key Clubbers" This statement is truly
beautiful and it's true. Think back to how you
joined Key Club. Now think about why you
stayed! :] Happy serving!
- Your LTG, Justine Hsu!
Hello Jellies!
It’s about time I put out a newsletter, huh? I apolo-
gize for coming short handed during December
and last month. BUT HERE’S FEBRUARY! :) An-
ywho I still can’t believe that I only have four
months of Key Club left. Thinking back, I remem-
ber when I first joined Key Club, I had no idea that
it would have impacted my life as much as it did.
Key Club has greatly changed the way I look at
world around me. Before, I was just another person
living their life on this planet. But now, I’m a per-
son who is making a difference in the world
around me. Key Club has taught me how much of an impact people can make on bettering their com-
munity. How giving my time and service would not
only better others around me but also myself. It has
taught me how to be a better leader and a more
responsible individual. (Even though I missed two
issues of newsletters. T_T) It has also taught me
how procrastinating isn’t...so great. After making
six newsletters however, I... still haven’t learned. I
plan to spend the last four months I have in Key
Club with full of spirit and inspiring members of
my own club to be more involved. Key Club has
been a great experience for me and I hope that
YOU have also experienced the full potential of Key Club.
I would greatly appreciate
it if YOU ( Jellies) would write me
either a RECAP or a BLURB and
submit it on our submission page.
I made that page so it would be
easier for YOU to send in articles.
Well, that’s about it!
HAVE AN AMAZING
TIME FUNDRAISING FOR DCON!!

Kiwanis One Day is April 21, 2012. Every Key Club should save Saturday, April 21, 2012, for the annual Kiwanis service
initiative observed worldwide – Kiwanis One Day.
On Kiwanis One Day, every club is urged to join with the rest of the Kiwanis family--
K-Kids, Builders, Circle K, Aktion Club, and Kiwanis--for a day of united service.
Called Kiwanis One Day, the event is inspired by Past International President Nel-
son Tucker’s initiative to create a day that unites the entire Kiwanis family in ser-
vice.
Kiwanis One Day provides an opportunity to showcase the Kiwanis family and our
commitment to service in each community. Think of the impact of more than
600,000 Kiwanis family members can make in one day of united service.
Every club is invited to take part in this momentous event.
For the most up-to-date information and more resources, visit the official Kiwanis
One Day page.

D37E Conclave
Elections are to be held anytime during the month of February. Each election process varies from club to club
at the discretion of the current club president. Usually, there is a speech, a caucusing session, and a vote by all
the members. Whoever wins holds the title and the responsibilities of the position after District Convention. In the
time between the elections and District Convention, the winning candidate of each position must be trained by
the person currently holding the position.
Helpful Tips
Ask the person holding the position you want about the duties and lifestyle of the position.
Prepare reasons on why you want this position.
Prepare reasons on how you will benefit the club.
Study over Key Club facts and trivia.

Yes, the year may be ending in 4 months, FOR SCHOOL. However, that
doesn’t mean you should stop RECRUITING members! Key Club doesn’t
end with the school year, actually, it doesn’t end AT ALL. So keep on re-
cruiting at your school! Think of some great ideas of getting students inter-
ested, like having all of your members bring a spoon and walk around with
it! IT’S SO AWKWARDLY AMAZING because people would ask you, “WHY
THE HECK ARE YOU HOLDING A SPOOON?!”

For those of you who have gone to DCON before, I think I can speak for all of us when I say it is an eye
opening, hugely-motivational, over the-top amazing event! For three days, clubbers from all around CNH
came together to share common experiences, unique personal stories, lots of laughs, nights of dancing, on-
site service projects, and overwhelming KEY Club spirit. The energy is amazing. DCON is also the time to
bring out individual club’s achievements.
