Feasibility Study on Proposed Kurunagala – Habarana Railroad Project The project intends to enhance the present administration’s planned National Economic Development Programme, which involves the development of agricultural, dairy farm and cottage industrial products of the rural areas of the nation by improving the railroad transport system in the North Central Province. In addition to this, the North Western and Central Provinces would greatly benefit from the project as a safe, fast and cheap mode of transportation linking the port of Colombo with Kurunegala and Dambulla with provision for extension further north is provided and this will be a boon and a valuable asset to the economic development of the nation.
