27 WATERFALLS – SPRING BREAK Where: 27 Waterfalls is a group of waterfalls in the north-central part of the Dominican Republic, not far outside of Santiago. This excursion is roughly a 3.5-4 hour event. You arrive at the foot of a series of hills and then go on a vigorous 1.5-2 hour hike up a series of large hills to get to the top. Then, you slide, jump, and swim your way down the waterfalls—all 27 of them! This is followed by a buffet-style lunch.

Family or Not? This is probably not a family friendly trip. First, the car ride in itself is fairly arduous. Second, the actual event itself requires a fair amount of stamina and fortitude: an extended hike up a mountain/large hill, and then jumping off of various waterfalls and lots of swimming around.

There are nearby hotels in Caberete (on the northern coast) or south in Santiago.

Hotels range from 8$ a person (an extremely, extremely, rustic hostel) to 30-60+$ a night for a “real” hotel in Caberete or Santiago.

Accommodations:

Page 20: Excursion presentation

Prices: I would budget for this trip at the following-- Prices in RD & USD:

Food: $1200-1500 (road-snacks, drinks, 2 breakfast, 2 lunch, 1 dinner)--- 30-40 USD

Hotel: (depends on comfort level of group) $300-1400ish per person--- 9-40 USD

Event price: $500-- 12 USD

Transportation & Fuel: (this is the big variable here)

Splitting rental car 5 ways

Rental Car = 60 USD per day. Leave Saturday AM = (2 days) = 120 USD

Gasoline = 6.5 USD per gallon. =120 USD for 2 complete fill-ups.

= split 5 ways $48 USD

Total: roughly $140.00 USD (which, in my opinion, is probably a fairly conservative estimate)
